Loss of love (hiccup x reader)

3rd Time NOT Lucky.

—Y/n pov—

I went over to Meatlug while Hiccup went to Hookfang.
"Easy girl, you're okay" I said quietly, creeping towards her with my arm outstretched, she roared at me making Strike very agitated
"Y/n? Are you okay?" I heard Hiccup yell and the next thing I knew Meatlug was spewing lava at me and Hookfang was trying to roast Hiccup alive, luckily our dragons both got in between but my heart was in my mouth.
We decided to wait for a moment because even though our armour was fireproof it could still end badly
"What has gotten into them?" I asked, mostly to myself
"I don't know, it's like something's controlling them.. like they are wild again" Hiccup replied slowly
"But why aren't Strike and Toothless affected as much?" He then said, lost in thought
I lay out possibilities before repliing:
"I really don't know, maybe it's because of their species wait no because Midnight is a night fury oh my Thor Hiccup Midnight is a night fury they have no chance against her come on!" I ran and went to jump on Strike but before I could do anything Hookfang and Meatlug had cornered me and no amount of warning blasts from Strike could scare them off
"Y/n stay very still" Hiccup whispered from beside me
"I am!" I whisper shouted back, Strike still protecting me
"Hiya take that!" Tuffnut yelled, coming out of no where and putting salt? On the 2 dragons, slug looking things crawled out their ears and then they seemed back to normal, just confused
"Eww what was that?" I asked
"Your welcome by the way" Tuff rolled his eyes and then his sister and dragon popped out from the trees
"That my friend was some sort of leech that gets into a dragon's system and makes them go crazy, they are found in fresh water" Ruffnut said, taking a bow
"So that's how Toothless and Strike weren't affected, they didn't go in the water" Hiccup replied and suddenly it all made sense
"Okay come on guys we need to go get the other right now because Stormfly and Midnight are still infected"

They saddled up and searched for the rest of the gang
"Down there!" Ruffnut called,
They landed to see midnight getting ready to fire a blast, Stormfly had been uninfected
"Hold still girl I just need to get this salt on you" Alice yelled and threw the salt, it landed right as a blast was shot, everyone closed their eyes afraid to see if their friend was alive
"I'm okay girl" Alice then spoke as her dragon cooed sadly at her
"Oh thank Thor" Fishlegs shouted and ran to hug Alice, earning a series of
"Awwww"
"How cute"
"Match made in Valhalla"
Both the teens faces went bright red and they laughed to each other.

"Wow that was a long night" Y/n yawned from atop Strike, they were nearly back at Berk and it was now midday
"Tell me about it" Hiccup replied with another yawn, they flew behind everyone.
"So sleepover tonight?" Y/n questioned with a smile
"of course milady" Hiccup smiled back.
Once they reached the hut they got dressed into night clothes and decided just to have a lazy day the rest of the day since it had been a long night and Hiccup wasn't needed for anything to do with chief training and Y/n wasn't needed in the forge
"I'm glad I came back" Y/n said softly, turning to face Hiccup on the bed
"I'm glad you came back too, and that you couldn't kill be that first day" Hiccup laughed
"Oh my gods remember that! And then Strike shot yous down on my island holy Thor that was so long ago" Y/n laughed as well
" I know it must be over a year ago now" Hiccup sighed

They said in sync.
They stared into each others eyes before leaning in for a kiss the moment felt like it went on for ever in the best way possible but they were interrupted by a knock on the door,
They quickly separated and both picked up the closest book
"C-come in!" Y/n shouted
"I thought I'd find you in here you need to come to the docks now Y/n" Astrid said urgently
"What's up?" Y/n asked, flinging on her boot and prosthetic before running down the stairs with Hiccup soon following behind, they rushed out the house and jumped on their dragons and the group of 3 rushed to the docks
When they were landing Y/n saw a ship's sail that she knew all too well and the worst part is.. it was destroyed
"They just arrived.. all they said was bring us Y/n" Astrid said but Y/n didn't hear her, she was too busy running to the ship which her parents and grandmother were on
"Y/n..?" Her mother said with a voice crack
Her mother and father lay on the ships deck while her grandmother sat against a wall
"I'm here mum, I'm here" Y/n reached out and grabbed her mothers hands, trying not to look at her dead father beside her
"We.. love.. you.. so much.." and with that her mothers eyes closed
"No please mum please wake up" Y/n yelled through tears as she shook her mother, Hiccup and Gobber began to try to pull her away but she thrashed out their grip and ran to her gran whom was holding on with her last moments
"You are the dragons only hope.. all the ones on our island are dead. Drink the water" Her grandmother faded out of consciousness
"Nooo" Y/n yelled as onlookers watched, not knowing what to do or what was going on
"Y/n you're okay, shh I'm here" Hiccup whispered into her neck as he hugged her tightly and she sobbed, Toothless and Strike came over too and they sat for a moment.
Gobber and the chief had ushered everyone away, even all Y/n's friends.

—the next day—

Y/n began grieving for the 3rd time but this time as hard as it was she still fought on, she tried not to see a lot of people but she spoke to Hiccup, Gobber and Stoick still, after all they were like her second family.
Currently Y/n and Hiccup lay in his bed, their dragons resting in a corner
"Hiccup I need to drink the water, I took the bike out my grandmothers hand. It was her last wish" the girl said, tears flowing out her stinging eyes
"When do you want to do it?" Hiccup asked as he rubbed circles in Y/n's back
"After the Ceremony."
