Chapter 25

29th october 2023

Jaida's pov:

Today is the Mexican grand prix and my mum had invited me round to watch the race at her house.

I knew i would have to put up with her boyfriend but i didn't care. He wasn't going to be the reason i couldn't spend time with my mum.

As the race wasn't until 8pm i decided to spend a few hours at the salon.

"Hey Jaid wasn't expecting you in today" Fiona said as i walked in,
"not doing anything else so might as well" i replied as she nodded.

"Jaida your back!" Kaylee one of my staff members said as i walked past,
"i am, how are you?" i asked,
"i'm good. How are you? I heard your a wag now" she replied with a wink making me laugh,
"if you wanna call me that go for it" i said,
"can't believe you bought him here the day i wasn't working" she replied making me giggle,
"sorry sorry" i said,
"i wanted to ask for Charles number" she replied making me laugh.

"Charles has a girlfriend sorry" i said,
"Carlos then" she replied,
"also has a girlfriend" i said,
"George?" she replied,
"you know he's not single" i said making her sigh.

"Have you actually snatched up the last single good looking one?" she asked as i proudly nodded,
"the best looking one" i said correcting her making her laugh.

"So have i gotta pretend to not think Lando Norris is attractive now?" she asked making me laugh,
"nah i already know you think he's hot. Just don't tell him that. His ego is big enough" i replied as she saluted with a giggle.

I spent the rest of the day working before popping home to get showered and ready to go to my mums for the race.

Once i got there i knocked on the door which was shortly opened by Gary who just stepped to one side letting me in. I walked straight into the living room where my mum was sat on the sofa.

"Hey mum" i said making her smile,
"hey Jaida come sit down do you want a drink?" she replied,
"no you stay put i'll go grab one in a minute" i said as she nodded.

I grabbed a drink for myself and my mum before headed back to the lounge sitting next to her.

"You excited for the race?" she asked as i put the channel on,
"yeah and no" i replied as she looked at me confused,
"i love watching the races but i hate the worry that comes with it. Any of them could get into a bad crash any moment" i said as she nodded.

I had already texted Lando to say good luck and he replied promising he'd call after the race.

"So where's Lando starting?" My mum asked,
"P3" i replied making her look at me confused,
"3rd" i added as she nodded with a laugh,
"the 3 part was a giveaway" Gary said with an eye roll making me roll my eyes as well.

"You know your daughter turned up to my apartment yesterday" i said to him making him shrug,
"shouldn't be bringing randomer's into my-" he was saying before pausing as he saw the look i was giving him,
"Your mums house" he said correcting himself making me nod.

"Well who do you expect her to bring home?" i asked,
"you've bought home Lando Norris haven't you?" he replied making me raise an eyebrow,
"so your not gonna accept any of her boyfriends unless their Lando's status or above?" i asked making him look at me,
"what's with all the questions? Watch the race." he snapped making me scoff as Crofty said his usual "it's lights out and away we go".
