The story behind the title 'Ahnera' is a little complicated... Just bear with me.
'Ahnera - Under Osa: Book 1' is the full title. Osa stands for 'our star above,' so it's basically the sun of a solar system. Ahnera is one of five planets that rotate around Osa, the other four being Kitati, Boucles, Dur, and Tritam. I hope to make it one of five books.
I had always liked the name 'Inara' from Firefly (a scifi show, I highly recommend). I changed the vowels and came up with Ahnera. I made up Kitati and Tritam as well. Boucles is french for loop (the planet has a ring).
Dur is short for Durock, which is what the species is called. Durock is also cement backerboard for tiles, so what makes a tile stick to a wall or the floor. I work at a flooring company and always thought it sounded like a good name for an alien.
