The first name that came to mind for my paranormal-suspenseful-romance story was MIDNIGHT. I used it for a week or two but was never satisfied. The name RED NIGHT was almost an accident that now feels more like a predestined path. I wanted to bring to mind blood and darkness with a seductive feel. As obvious as the name is simple, that was how it came to be. I had planned to rename it later.
But the more the story progressed, the more it grew on me. Since I was writing about a female PI, I began to like the notion that the title wasn't trendy and had a retro feel to it. If I took a cue from older detective stories and movies it seemed to fit, nicely. After all I was trying to write a fresh, new approach on an old story line. I wanted my character, Samantha Chase to breathe new life into an old style hero. Later, I added and then removed 'A Samantha Chase Novel', after learning about a published author named Samantha Chase. I later added, 'A Vampire Novel' to attract readers when they searched for vampire stories.
