Anya's life was proof that living can only be perfect when the happiness is built on lies. Lies such as her relationship was one without secrets, that it was her choice to fall in love and that she was going to be marrying a man, not a beast. Someday, her happy life was bound to be ruined by the lies. Ruined in ways which led to her fleeing and hiding, hoping that despite the man she loved was slightly different, he'd never find her if she ran far enough.

Inevitably, though, the wolves would come knocking and this time, they're knocking for her.
