I looked at Ringo.

My eyes began to burn with hot tears.

My head throbbed with worry.

Suddenly everything went silent, I twisted around facing the store going up in flames.

As my mind went into slow motion I began to run as fast as I could toward the burning building.

I didn't care what happened to me at that moment, all I knew was George was in there and I had to get him out.

I could faintly hear familiar voices shouting my name, but I didn't look back. I kept running, tears streaming down my face.

My only concern was George.

As pushed through the crowd of people, I called out George's name.

Sweat ran down my forehead, My heart pounded, and I began to feel lightheaded.

I shoved and pushed people aside fighting to reach the entrance.

Suddenly I felt two arms wrap around me.

My body felt like it was coming back to life as Ringo twisted me around facing him.

The sound came back and everything was moving at a regular pace.

Sirens blared in my ears, and the cries from the families rang out.

"Claire, that building is coming down any minute you can't go in there!"

I breathed heavily and turned to face the store.

Firemen had begun to bring people out of the top floor.

"George is in there, I have to do something!"

Ringo looked up at the top floor, and I heard a crack.

"Come on Claire, we have to get away she's coming down."

He grabbed my arm as he tried to drag me away from the soon-to-be pile of rubble.

"No! I am not leaving without George!"

"Claire we don't have time for this!"

I stood my ground as Ringo again tried to pull me away.

I whipped my arm away and began to run once again towards the building.

I felt Ringo's arms wrap around my waist as he dragged me away from the terrifying scene.

I kicked and demand that he let me go.

Suddenly the building began to collapse, as it falls to the ground I screamed George's name repeatedly.

Ringo dragged me to the park and as gently as he could put me down on the grass.

I grabbed Ringo's shirt and stood up my legs not allowing me to.

I looked into his eyes.

A tear trickled down his face.

"I'm so sorry."

He managed to croak out.

My heart shattered into a million pieces, as I dug my face into the crook of his neck.

His arms wrapped around me as he hugged me tightly.

Slowly he ran his fingers through my hair and laid his head on my shoulder.

I felt Paul and John come up and wrap their arms around me from either side. I had lost all hope, I had lost George.

The love of my life.

Suddenly a gasp came from Ringo.

"Claire, Claire look!"

Quickly I turned around while wiping my tears away.

What I saw I couldn't believe.

It was George, he was being carried away in a stretcher.

My heart lifted and my legs began to carry towards where George lay.
I collapsed down beside George and ran my fingers through his hair.

I kissed his forehead lightly and held his hand tight.

"Ma'am, do you know this young man?"

I looked up to see a firefighter.

"Yes sir, I am his girlfriend."

He nodded his head and squatted down beside me.

"Good, we were looking for a relative of some kind.

He has some pretty bad burns on his arm.

We will get him on an ambulance as soon as possible."

I nodded my head.

"Thank you so much."

The fireman stood back up.

"Don't mention it, love."

He winked at me as he went off to another injured young man.

The lads had finally caught up and were sitting beside me.

I kissed George's soft hand as I looked at his soot-covered face.

All I could think about was how happy I was that he was alive.

George was alive and that's all that mattered.

He was alive.
