Acquaintance

Every day we meet
On cornfields and grassy grounds
Share sweets and secrets
Lover's names
Or perhaps, when we are older
The depth of the scars on our skin
The touch of gentle hands that defile us
For our souls to implode within our bodies.

Till our time comes, and we go our own ways
And each, we carry a little bit of each other within us
A face, imprinted like neon in the back of our mind
Perhaps a colour, a laugh, or averted eyes
Or stealthy kisses stolen from where lovers stash their secrets
A million words unspoken.
'Remember me'
With the familiarity of an aching tooth.

Till one day we will meet
Perchance, on our way
Warm with tears unshed, with nothing to say
Blinded, a question rises to our lips
'Hello friend, how is life?'
What can I say
In muffled letters and violet rain
Good and satisfying life must have been.
