Vive la Révolution

I fell in love with a man in red.
he died holding the flag,
and the flag held him up when he was dead.

I died with him. I held his hand.
I had a smile on my lips
and he had no tears in his eyes.
He held his head up high.
The flag, it didn't die.

For, you see, we live on,
Conspiring under cherry trees.
In unlit taverns, under caves in the hills.
We are crushed, but we never die.

We never die.
We fall and we rise
and we will rise again,
with a dream.
Another utopia to die for.
Over and over and over
with only hope and a song to
get us through.

He stands proud, I hold his hand,
and we sing of tomorrow, of a hope,
of the new world beyond,
a belief to bind us together.

The man in red, who never died.
And I, the Belief. I hold his hand.

Did you see us lying side by side?
