"Ethan no, I'm not letting you give me a tattoo!" I squealed,

We had gone out to a big music fest out in Sydney with a big group of our friends for the weekend. We were finally away from the stress and drama from home and school. All of our favorite bands were there for us to enjoy.  We found a spot in the park amongst many other groups of people. There were hundreds of tents, people, and memories being created that weekend. We were all gathered around a fire we had started that night. We all were drinking, some were smoking, and just sharing stories from previous festivals. Once we had decided we wanted our alone time, we headed back to our tent for the night. It had begun raining softly. As we laid there intertwined in each others arms, we listened to the rain fall down the plastic tarp we had pitched earlier,

"Come on please?" his big, blue eyes gazed up at me, "No way in bloody hell, Ethan!" I replied punching his chest jokingly, "I know we are going to be together forever, this is like a promise ring" he convincingly pleaded. I ran my fingers through my hair contemplating,

"Okay, fine. Is it going to hurt?" I asked, but was afraid of the answer,

"Nah, it doesn't hurt. I have a couple, don't worry you'll be fine" he assured me; he sat up, leaned over and started digging in his bag. A few minutes later he pulls out his equipment,

"Ready?" he asked, I nodded. I was sitting Indian style; he was at the end of my right knee. He positioned the needle, tattoo gun at my ankle. I felt feelings of excitement and nervousness rush through my veins; I looked down at him,

"Nervous, babe?" he grinned up at me,

I nodded grabbing his bicep; he leaned up and kissed me,

"I love you so much!" after he said that he started my tattoo, I groaned and grunted. The pain hurt, but not too bad,

"It's not that bad, what are you writing?" he stopped and looked at me,

"Together forever" he grinned, once he finished he started to put his stuff away,

"No, no, no, I get to give you one now! Like a promise ring" I mocked him shaking my head, I wink at him, he realizes I'm mimicking him. He slowly passes me the gun; nervously I start his tattoo on his bicep amongst his many other tattoos,

"Done" I squeal a few minutes later, he looks down at my art work. He tackles me to the ground, pressing his shoulders against mine. Moving his body so he is positioned perfectly between my legs,

"Its perfect baby, together forever!" he kisses me softly and lays me down on our sleeping bag. We were just so young and dumb, actually thinking this was going to last forever.

I ran my fingers over his tattoo I had given him a few months ago; he caught what I was looking at,

"Remember that night?" he mumbled while grinning slightly. Ethan grabbed my other hand and intertwined our fingers together. Those words sent a chill down my spine; he knew exactly what I was thinking about,

"Yes, I do" I confessed, with a sad tone to my words,

"Do you still have the one I gave you? You haven't covered it up have you?" he asked, a bit of doubt behind his sentence,

"Yes I have it" that's all I could manage to choke out. Nowadays I wish I didn't have it anymore. I've debated going and getting it covered, thinking it could cover the memories I have with him. I got the tattoo thinking we would be together forever.  But apparently forever wasn't long enough, or good enough for him.
