HE WAS FAR. Far gone from any grip of mine. What would I be able to do? I'm being held back by one of the elders, Kanna to be exact. He fights, strong, with pride and perseverance. Nothing seems to stand in his way. Not fire, not earth, not even ice itself. We were winning.
I'm hiding in a barely standing igloo, watching the battle unfold. Watching the men of our tribe, nonbenders, fight the ruthless Fire Nation soldiers who knocked on our door not even minutes ago.
But why? Why are they here? What do they want from the run down, poor Southern Water Tribe? When a net laced around my fathers' feet, it hit me.
Waterbenders.
Or what was left of them.
Me, my father, Katara. We're all in danger. I turn to Kanna with a blanket of panic on my features, "Gran-Gran, are they going to hurt him? Are they going to hurt me?"
