・゚: *・゚:* *:・゚*:・゚ KATARA AND I WALK IN ON THE TWO BOYS RUMMAGING AROUND THE FOREST. "Did someone lose something?"

"No! We found something!" Aang says with excitement.

"There was a battle. Watertribe warriors ambushed a group of Firebenders." Sokka leads us down a hill onto the beach. He interprets the signs left on the earth from the struggle, "Firebenders fought back but the warriors drove them down this hill..."

"So then what happened?" Aang and I questioned in unison.

"I don't know. The trail ends here." Sokka holds a whale tooth blade tight in his grip.

Everyone sighs. I examine our surrounding before finding a familiar Watertribe ship.

"Guys look, one of our boats!" I point to the worn ship resting on the shore. Sokka and Katara's eyes light up as we run down to get a better look.

"Is this... dad's boat?" Katara wonders. Both Sokka and I shake our heads.

"No. But it's from his fleet. Hakoda was here." I smile while Sokka rubs the ship's prow.

We decide to make camp near our find today. Feels almost like home.

I lay awake on my back, looking at the stars. Memories of Hakoda flood my thoughts.

~

Every day, I come to this ledge where I watched as the Fire Nation ships sailed off with my father. It's only been a few days.

"Saki." Hakoda fills my presence. He sighs, "I have to leave."

"I know." I keep my eyes on the horizon.

"Sokka is going to look after you. I made him promise me he will protect you and Katara." He informs.

I stay quiet.

"I know this is asking a lot... but will you promise me you'll look after them. You may be eight years old but you're the only other person in this tribe who knows how to fight."

Finally, I look back at the pleading father behind me.

"I promise."

~

A cracking of twigs makes my shoot up to my feet. Sokka has the same reflex.

"Who's there?"

"Sokka? Saki?" A familiar man asks. Once he's in the firelight I see who it is.

"Bato?"

Aang yawns before asking, "what is it now?"
He seems annoyed that we woke him.

"Bato!" Katara leaps up and hugs him along with Sokka. After they pull away, Bato looks at me, "Wow. Look at you three. You've grown so much." I embrace my father's old friend and a close ally.
