Livestream

"Hey guys! I'm bored, so ask me some questions!" I smile as I watch the comments start to roll in. It's been a while since I last did a livestream on Instagram. I guess life just got in the way. I laugh as I read the many comments asking if my boyfriend, Shawn, is there with me and if he isn't then who's shoulder is next to mine.
"Yes, Shawn is here." I turn my phone to the side so they can see him sitting under the covers of the bed beside me on his phone. I ruffle his hair, one of the things he claims to hate because it takes ages to fix, but I don't see the problem right now since it's one in the morning.
He playfully glares at me before giving the camera a lazy smile and peace sign. "Hey." He wraps his arm around me, pulling me closer, before returning to scrolling through his Twitter. I quickly kiss him on the cheek before returning my attention to the incoming questions on my phone screen.

"Where am I right now?" I laugh as I read the question. "Look guys, it's not that I don't love you; because I do, but I still don't want a stampede of you outside my apartment." I pause, thinking about what I could say. "I guess you could say I'm at home right now." I wink at the camera before moving to the next question.

As usual, there is also a flood of abuse directed at me, mostly from some of Shawn's fans but some from online trolls who have nothing better to be doing with their lives. This last year of dating the one and only Shawn Mendes, I've learned not to let the bullies get to me, or at least not to show that they're getting to me. I don't want to worry anyone, especially my boyfriend.

"How did Shawn and I meet?" This is a regular question but I have no problem answering it over and over again. It's one of my favourite stories to tell. "Some of you likely already know this story but I'll tell it for the ones who don't. I used to be a massive fan of his, like you, and could only dream of meeting him. For Christmas two years ago my whole family got together to surprise me with a ticket to his meet and greet and concert back in Dublin. I was ecstatic and when the day came I could hardly speak. To cut a long story short, I walked into the meet and greet room, face planted, blushed harder than I've ever blushed before, and Shawn helped me up off the ground. I was close to tears but he helped me see the funny side of it and I couldn't have been more grateful. Then, for some unknown reason, he asked for my number and here we are today!" I rattle the familiar story off, grinning at the memory.

I feel Shawn shift beside me. "What do you mean for some unknown reason?" He asks, his eyebrows drawn together.
"Huh?" I'm confused.
"You said then, for some unknown reason, he asked for my number."
"Well, yeah." I shrug. "To this day I don't know why you did that."
Shawn is silent for a moment, staring at me with a somewhat sad expression. I look down, not knowing what to do. I feel the bed move slightly as Shawn leans into me, his lips softly brushing against my ear. "Turn the camera off."
By now my head is a hurricane of confused thoughts, but I comply. "Um, okay that's enough questions for today guys! Thank you for all your lovely messages and hopefully I'll find time to do another livestream soon. Love you!" I plaster a smile on my face as I sign off, not wanting anyone to catch on to the tension in the room. At least I think there's tension in the room, but to be honest I'm not sure what's going on anymore.

"Sweetheart?"
"Mhm?" I play with my fingers, avoiding eye contact.
"What did you mean when you said 'for some unknown reason, he asked for my number?" Shawn's voice is quiet and I can feel his eyes on me.
I don't respond immediately, partly because I'm at a loss for words. "I-I don't know. It's nothing. Don't worry about it, baby." I finally turn to face him, a small smile forced on my face as I kiss him quickly on the cheek.
"It's not nothing though, Y/N. You say those type of things a lot and it hurts me because you obviously don't know how amazing you are!"
I laugh, a deep, menacing sound. "I am not amazing, Shawn. Don't say that."
"Baby-" His voice is pleading.
"No! Stop! I'm not amazing and I definitely don't deserve you." I pause. "I don't know why you're still with me when you could have someone much better." My voice cracks, and I turn away.
The silence is deafening.

"Get up." Shawn orders, yet his voice is still kind.
"Wha-"
"Give me your hand." He takes my hand in his and leads me out of the bedroom and into the bathroom, stopping by placing us both in front of the large mirror hanging there.
"What do you see, Y/N?" He asks softly, his hands on my shoulders as he stands behind me.
"I-I don't know," I whisper.
"Well you know what I see? I see the most kind, caring, gentle, affectionate, funny, smart and goddamn beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life. I see the girl who cares about me so much that she once drove four hours just to give me a guitar pick because she knew I considered it lucky. I see the girl who got accidentally punched in the face once and asked the person punching her if they were okay. I see someone who deserves the world and so much more. I see the girl that I love and I consider myself not worthy of being with every damn day because of how perfect she is." By now there are tears streaming down my face and Shawn's voice is catching as it grows in volume. "If anything, Y/N, I don't know why you're still with me."

I whirl around in his arms and bury my head in his bare chest, letting the sobs come freely. His arms are clutching me against him, his face buried in my hair. "Don't ever, ever, feel like you're not good enough. Because you are so much more than good enough."
"I love you so much," I whisper, my sobs subsiding.
"And I love you more than you could ever imagine." I feel Shawn press a soft kiss to my forehead.

We stand like that in the bathroom for a while, arms wrapped tightly around each other like we'll never let go.
"Wanna go back to bed?"
I nod against his chest, only then realising that my eyes were drooping. "Race you." I yawn before running towards the bedroom as fast as my tired legs can carry me.
"Oh it's on," Shawn laughs before chasing me.
