Chapter 7

Lucas

We sat down on Blair's bed. I couldn't help but look into her crystal blue tear stained eyes and her full lips. What was wrong with me? I ask myself. She doesn't remember you anyway.

Blair and I had been friends since we were in nappies but then when I was 11 we moved here and we lost contact but mum and Jess were the only ones still in contact. Jess is Blair's mum.

It hurt so much seeing Blair in so much pain with the loss of her sister and parents then to find out one of her best friends has cancer and not long to live and then Mason stalking her and Kade and the list goes on, you can tell she's not handling any of this very well even though she says that's she's ok but she's not. I love her too much and I want to protect her from all of this but I can't when she's pushing everyone away.

Blair moves closer to me, surprising me. Don't get me wrong I don't mind it just surprised me. When she gets close enough she lays her head on my shoulder and falls asleep. I get up to lay her down on her bed and as I walk to the door to leave she opens her eyes and asks where I'm going.

"I'm going to my room" I tell her as I unlock the door

"Can you please stay" she asks

"Ok but only till you fall asleep" I reply and walk over to her bed. I sit down next to her as she puts her head on my lap and closes her eyes. I brush her hair out of her eyes and stare down at her peaceful body. She doesn't deserve all of this, no one does. I kept stroking her hair until I fell asleep.

It was 6am when I heard and alarm going off and someone walk into the room. I looked down at Blair and she was still asleep looking more peaceful than ever.

"What are you doing in here?" Levi asks.

"I must of fell asleep"

"Yeah you did, but you still haven't answered my question, what are you doing in here?"

"I came to check up on Blair last night and as I went to leave she asked me to stay till she fell asleep and I did but then I fell asleep, ok nothing is going on" I tell Levi.

"Sure, nothing is definitely going on I can see the way you look at her, you love her" Levi says in a teasing voice.

"I don't love her I just wanted to make sure she was ok last night" I reason with him.

"Yeah sure" he yells as he leaves the room.

I wake Blair up and tell her to get dressed and come downstairs for breakfast than leave her room and go to mine.

I enter my room and have a shower. I let the hot water run down my body. I turn off the water and exit the shower and get dried and dressed into my horrible formal school uniform. It was a white shirt with maroon stripes paired with grey short's and long grey socks and black shoes.

I brushed my longish wavy hair. As I exit the bathroom into my bedroom I see a photo of Blair and I when we were about 10 years old. We were at the park being kids when she dumped a whole bucket of water and paint on me and then I did the same to her. It was a fun day that day.

I then hear and knock on my door.
"Come in" I yell to whoever it was and mum walks in. Dads not really around anymore because of work he's usually traveling and when he's home we don't see him because he'll leave before any of us are up and gets home after everyone is asleep.

"Breakfast is ready when you want to come downstairs" mum tells me.

"Ok"

"Hey, I know you were in Blair's room all night and I know you like her it's so obvious and it's also really obvious she likes you as well, just don't go around and break her heart she's already been through so much she doesn't need you going and breaking her heart as well."

"I know mum, I won't go around and break her heart"

"Can you please look after her at school today please?" She asks me.

"Yes, I'll look after her today don't worry" I reassure her.

I walk down the stairs to see everyone at the dining table eating vegemite on toast and Kade eating some fruit. I love seeing the relationship and love between Kade and Blair. You could tell that Blair loved him more than anything.

I go over and sit next to Blair and eat my toast. Everyone was talking and having their own conversations. I blocked out most of the noise so it became a sound in the background. I was in my own little world thinking of the years that William, Blair, Levi and I all shared before we left and came here. I than started to think about what it would feel like to kiss Blair's lips. No, you can't think about that I told myself.

"Lucas, Lucas" someone calls my name bringing me out of my daydream.

"Huh, what?" I ask very confused.

"Everyone's gone to clean their teeth and get their school bag, it's nearly time to go" Cassy tells me.

"Oh ok" I say as I get up and put myplate in the sink and walk to my bedroom and into the bathroom to clean myteeth.

I liked Cassy. She's been here since we movedwhen I was 11. She was the one who looked after us when dad was away and mumwas working double shifts at work. Mum told Cassy that we don't need heranymore but Cassy insists on staying. She says that she loves us too much toleave but that's understandable because when mum hired her she was 20 years oldshe's now 26 and been living here but I don't mind because she's one of the funcares not one of those old mean ones. She understands us and gets along with usbut when we're in trouble with her you know you messed up and messed up bad.

I cleaned my teeth and get my bag as I leave mybedroom and head downstairs. William, Wilder, Leo and Wayne had already gone toschool. Blair, Wyatt and Levi were waiting for me to hurry up and take us toschool. Mum drove Lincoln to school probably considering I can't see either ofthem.

I open the door and hold it open for everyone towalk outside. Once everyone is out I close and lock up. We walk over to my carand Blair gets in the front seat as the other two get in the back.
