Ready for the first fun fact? Cool. Here you go:

MATT DILLON AND C. THOMAS HOWELL HAD TO LEARN HOW TO SMOKE FOR THEIR ROLES.

During the making of the film, Matt Dillon (Dallas Winston) and C. Thomas "Tommy" Howell (Ponyboy Curtis) originally did not know how to smoke, and quite frankly, they never did. So, before they started filming, they needed to learn how in order to portray their character better. That's exactly what they did, probably learning from the rest of the cast members who already knew how and smoked in the movie (Ralph Macchio, Emilio Estevez, etc...)
