Mask

What an amazing creature
of no particular creation.
I shall name you Mask,
and I shall help you grow
and I shall help you eat
and I shall help you smile
and I shall help you wave
and I shall help you laugh.

But one day, you shall come to me
and ask me a question I do not like.
And I shall yell and stomp
and you won't ever do it again.

But one day, you shall come to me
and ask me a question I do not like.
And I shall stop and think
and you will join me.

But one day, you shall come to me
and ask a question I do not like.
And I shall applaud and praise you
and you will keep asking me.

But one day, I shall come to you
and ask a question that needs answering.
And you shall not answer
and just smile and wave.

What a terrible creature
of my own creation.
I shall name you Mask.
and I shall help you lie
and I shall help you pray
and I shall help you think
and I shall help you reject
and I shall help you no longer,
for you will just
smile
and
wave.

Monika - "I must admit, Y/N, your poetry just keeps on improving! This one is even better than the last one, I really like your use of repetition."

Y/N saw her face as she read. She picked up pretty quickly on what it was about. Y/N had been inspired in his recent fascination behind Monika. After deciding to try and unravel Monika, he found himself inspired by this new search he was embarking on.

As observant as ever, Monika must've realised the inspiration; her eyes narrowed slightly, she fought a smile off of her lips. It seems as if Y/N had hit the nail on the head. This was even more evident when Monika didn't even ask what it was about, instead going handing her poem to Y/N excitedly.

Monika - "Here, have a read through of mine. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out, I think you'll like it."

Y/N nods, smiling as he took a read.

Just

Hello you.
Yes, you. Reading this.
You know who you are.
I know what you're doing.

I'm flattered, but a little confused.
If that's the right word for it.

You see, I'm a person,
like you,
with many different parts to me.
Like any old person.

Like a machine.
One I doubt you'll be able to fix.

So just take my word for it.
Take my kind words for what they are.
Don't lose yourself in some fantasy,
even if we both indulge in it.

It's not worth it...
is what I'd usually say.

You've caught my eye
because you're different
and I like that
about you.

Among other things
I like about you.

Don't take my word for it.
Just ask.

Y/N - "... huh..."

Monika smiles sweetly at YN, placing her hands behind her back and leaning on her legs gently.

Monika - "Hmmm~?"

Monika leans in a little closer, hushing her voice so no one else in the club heard them.
