Alex POV

I roll out of bed and checked the time. 10:27 AM
"Shit" I mumble to myself.
I had brunch with Artemi to tell him about me signing to a few model agencies. I quickly ran to the bathroom and took a shower. I let my long, brunette hair dry in natural waves. I try to find an outfit quick so I have time to put on some makeup.
I find some leggings and a maroon sweater with some combat boots. I quickly put on some light makeup and run out the door. Once the elevator door opens, I check the time. 10:57. New record. I hop into my white jeep and take a deep breath. As soon as I relax and catch my breath, I start the car and head on over to meet Artemi.

Once I get there, I see his car outside the little café. I walk in and see him sitting alone on his phone.
"Artemi?" I said softly so I didn't alarm him.
"Hey Alex! I got you some lemonade and a croissant. I wasn't sure if you wanted anything else" I smiled. I always got a croissant and lemonade when we went out for brunch I'm sure he's remembered my order by now.
"Thanks! So, we have a lot to talk about." I said while sitting down.
"Go right ahead"
"Well, you know how I was applying for a few modeling agencies?" He nodded.
"Well I sent some in, and they should be calling me tomorrow to tell me if they're going to hire me." I spoke with a smile.
"Oh my goodness that's great! Where did you send your pictures?" This was the hard part.
"All over America. California, Illinois, Florida."
"What about places here in Russia?" He said casually.
"I couldn't find any." I sighed. I knew if I got signed, I would have to leave Artemi, which would be the hardest thing I would ever do in my life, besides me moving to Russia a few years ago. I saw his face drop.
"But, I might not even get signed. So, there's still a chance I'll look for something out here." I tried to change the mood.
"You know you're going to get signed, Alex" He spoke in a serious tone. I could tell he was hurt.
"Even if I do, we'll still keep in touch! Don't worry about it, we don't even know anything for sure yet." I felt bad. I wanted this so bad, but I couldn't leave Artemi. He was hurt and so was I. It stayed silent for a while. I wasn't sure what to say, and I knew he didn't know either.
"Just promise whatever happens, we won't forget about each other, okay?" He put his hand in mine.
"I promise" I said with a smile.

The rest of the time, we talked about hockey, our plans for the summer, and about how Artemi should be a model. As soon as we finished, I checked the time. 12:38.
"Well, I have practice tomorrow. But call me as soon as you figure out all of this modeling stuff" He said as he hugged me.
"You'll be the first person I'll tell. See you on Sunday" He waved back at me and got into his car. As soon as I got home, I laid back onto my bed. Why couldn't I have just found a place to model in Russia? Yeah, I lived in the US for my whole childhood, but I loved Russia. I learned the language in no time and met so many amazing people, including Artemi. I'm 20 and Artemi is 21. We've been friends ever since we were 16.

The rest of the day, I laid in bed watching Netflix. I didn't want to think about leaving Russia, even though it would be for the best. I don't want to leave Artemi.
