CHAPTER FOURTEEN:
Severe Burns

TARA WAS BEGINNING TO REALLY DISLIKE DRAGONS, BUT SHE KNEW IT WOULD GET WORSE THAN SIMPLY READING ABOUT THEM. Tara and Cedric had been in the library for hours reading about the six possible dragons that they'd have to deal with in a matter of days.

"So, it sounds like the Welsh Green is the pick of them," Tara said with a sigh. "At least that one is relatively subdued compared to the rest of them," she continued.

"Yeah. The Swedish Short-Snout seems nasty. This book says that its flame is hot enough to turn skin and bone to ashes in seconds. That's grim," Cedric says with a grimace.

"That's horrible," Tara mutters, looking up at the boy sitting across the table from her. She hoped he would get the Welsh Green, but her first choice would be that he didn't have to fight a dragon at all.

"I think that might be enough studying for one day," Cedric said with a small smile, noticing that Tara was lost in her thoughts.

"But we don't even know how we're going to distract or evade the dragon," Tara said as she put her head in her hands.

"How about we go to the kitchens? Get something to eat?" Cedric suggests, he didn't want to crowd her, but he wanted to spend as much time as possible with her. He truly started believing what Felix had been telling him all along. He was whipped. He was head over heels for the red-headed girl from Gryffindor, and he had been from the moment he laid eyes on her.

Once Felix had seen the photo of the Tri-Wizard Champions in the Daily Prophet, he went ballistic and immediately went to show Cedric who immediately denied that the girl would have any interest in him.

"But she's looking at you, Cedric!" Felix would say as he shoved the paper into his best friend's face, but Cedric would just deny that Tara Weasley would ever reciprocate his feelings.

"That sounds wonderful, I am starving!" Tara says with a smile and a laugh. The two left the library together, and they couldn't help but steal glances at each other.

"Are you nervous about the tournament?" Cedric asked curiously, and was surprised when Tara frowned after hearing his question.

"I think one would be stupid if they weren't at least a little apprehensive," Tara said with a shrug. "I am quite nervous though," she said quietly as she looked up at Cedric who grinned.

"Well, it's not every day you have to fight a dragon!" Tara said with a grin, nudging him with her left elbow.

"I think it's brave you admitted that," Cedric said with a bright smile which made Tara melt. The two stayed silent for the remainder of their journey to the kitchens, both stopping once they reached the tapestry entrance.
