Kent is insisting on cooking us some brunch when he finds out we just had a hotel breakfast.

"I'm gonna get killed someday," he says as he suddenly stops cutting fruit, he looks at us warily. "My friends say I'm too trusting, I blame it on being a Pisces."

I nod and think of Fleamount. "It's alright, I'm a Cancer. I'd probably cry if I had to kill someone."

That makes him laugh, he glances up at the stairs. "My dad's trying to buy some company in Ireland, right now. He's not coming down until he gets it for half the asking price." Then, he's back to focussing on cutting a cantaloupe. "I also should've asked for your names, if I have to file some police report."

James smiles and leans over to grab a piece. "Don't you think we'd give you fake names if that was the case?"

The boys both laugh. I'll never not be amazed at how likeable James is. He's only spoken a total of five sentences to Kent since we've arrived and he's already won him over. He honestly must be using some magic because how can someone be this good at small talk with a total stranger?

His arm is around my chair and though there's still some tension, it's eased up enough that nobody else except us can tell now.

Instruments litter the house, I gaze at the large and very expensive looking piano near the entrance to the formal living room (Kent said he liked their den much better for lounging though this one had more natural light).

"Do you play?"

He nods, as he hands me a smoothie bowl. "My mum is a musician, so I just learned to play a bit of everything," he says, hopping to sit on the counter. "But the piano's my main thing. I'm starting Julliard next week."

Woah. He's insanely attractive, rich, and talented.

Rachel would love this guy.

I glance up at James and can tell he's confused about the Juilliard thing. But he doesn't say anything so I just bump my shoulder against his, as if promising I'll tell him later. He gives me a small smile in return.

"What're you guys planning on doing?"

His food is heavenly and I really need to get his number for Rachel, if he dated her then he'd make me food as well. It's such a win-win, honestly.

"I'm planning on being a doctor," I say, then see that James is blanking so I answer for him as well. "James is taking a gap year currently."

Kent nods. "Traveling?"

"Mostly work," James mumbles.

We both share a look as Kent talks about how his dad belives it's really important for everyone to have work experience before going to college. Identical smiles appear on both of our faces and it's like some inside joke and it's as if it's only us in this room. Speaking some language that we've created just for us.

If I let this go, I'm scared I'll never know closeness like this ever again.

I continue to eat my food as James talks now. He tells Kent about Sicily, how we spent a large portion of summer at the beach house, his best friends and how they always get into trouble. Tells Kent about how he really liked the Jazz Club, then how we went to the Met and laslty about how we stayed at small hotel at Cornelia Street.

I'm getting up to put my bowl in the sink, Kent turns on the tap and asks quietly, "Why did you come to visit my dad?"

"My aunt knew your dad back in the day."

He instantly knows. "Sabrina Thorpe," he asks, then quickly adds. "Or I guess she's called Sally."

"That's her," I say.
