Something's lurking in the dark,
Close your eyes and hope it works,
Its shadow creeps up the bedroom wall,
Always beckoning, always luring,
It's darker than before,
It wants to consume you,
With fingers like razors,
It drags itself up your bed,
Alone and cold, frail or fragile,
Backing you in a corner, lost in despair,
Grin so malicious, it kills,
Dreadful thought, only loneliness,
Closer and closer,
Running has never done you any good,
It hovers, so much bigger than you,
Should have prepared,
"You can't do this alone."
It has always hurt you, will it win yet again,
Devour what you think is left,
Defeat the undefeatable.
