Guys, guys, gUYS IT'S HERE. IT. IS. HERE.

Prepare yourselves my little cherubs, for I have finally written what you have been wanting :)

It had to be done. I had to dedicate this chapter to BarryMaBaex because she literally read the whole of Troublesome and this book in what, two days tops? Maybe three? Besides, her comments made me laugh so she deserved this dedication.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not an Engineer and I actually only got a C in Advanced Physics, so if any of you are physics geniuses, then I'm sorry if I get the following information wrong. I'm literally winging it.

T E N | THE KANE REUNION

Carter didn't stick around the Drop ship for too long after she and Bellamy returned. After she found out that Clarke intended on bringing the Commander back there, she figured it was best to high-tail it back to camp before things got a little too crowded. Besides, there wasn't much for an engineer to do when the main focus is aiding someone back to health.

And she also really wanted to get on with replicating the battery so she could finally drive a car, something she always dreamed of doing.

Although, once she was finally done with lugging the thing back to camp-- despite the help both Finn and Bellamy offered, Carter was adamant she could do it without assistance-- the reaction she got from her colleague wasn't exactly what she was expecting.

"What the hell is that and why is it on work top?" Wick pulled his eyebrows together as he stared at the battery.

Carter merely stared at him, mildly disgusted. "Who are you?"

"Me? I'm Wick, and you're Carter, the cripple that is usually in here hogging my space is Raven-"

"- Don't be a smartass, Wick." Carter deadpanned, sending him a flat look. "I mean, how the hell do you not know what this is?"

"... I don't know, is it common knowledge to know what this garbage is?" Wick frowned, poking the battery curiously, like he expected it to blow up or something as equally as dramatic. As he went to poke it again, Carter slapped his hand away and narrowed her eyes.

"You don't even get to call yourself an engineer..." She hissed, all in good nature and Wick raised his eyebrows in surprise. "It's a battery, idiot. A car battery."

It was just Carter's luck to be stood in front of Wick when he took a gulp of his water and decided to do a spit-take with it, thus, covering her in Wick-spit and water. Though despite the obvious amusement on her face, Wick suddenly seemed too fascinated in the battery to care. "No freaking way, where did you find this?"

"A garage," Carter replied, using the sleeve of her jacket to wipe the liquid off her face. "There's a whole bunch of cars there, but most of them don't have the keys."

"Do you not know how to hot-wire?" Wick raised an eyebrow at the blonde who sent him yet another flat look.

"Yes, Wick, let me just hot-wire a car to kick start the battery... oh wait, all the batteries are dead." Carter drawled sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "Don't you think I tried that? What we need to do is replicate the battery so we can actually get the cars back into action."

"Right, I'm with you now." Wick nodded, rounding the table so he was on the other side. He propped his elbows on the table and stared long and hard at the dust cladded battery in front of him.  "So, what, did the nuclear charge throw off the charge from the battery?"
