I had my jacket zipped all the way up but there was no hiding the hickeys from yesterday's meet up with Gabriel. Even as I turned to sit in my seat in Art, I saw Jade gasp on the other side of the room and whisper to Seraphina. When I actually sat down, Billie said, "You better cover that up."

Seraphina arrived at our table and exclaimed, "Eden, your neck!"

At that point, the entirety of the class erupted with questions and exclamations. Seraphina continued to ask, "Who is it from?"

"I don't want to say," I responded.

"Does he go to our school?" Miss Stokes called from the front of the class.

"Is it Benji?!" Seraphina speculated.

"No," I replied firmly, especially to Seraphina.

"I don't care then," Miss Stokes said dismissively, buying my lie.

"I still do!" said Seraphina who had pulled up a chair, "Give me the deets."

I didn't even have to answer because Billie immediately stated, "Leave her alone."

And something in her voice made Seraphina do so. I gave Seraphina permission to plait my hair (very beautifully) to the side.
