Chapter 11 Ice cream anyone?

Tawny skipped down the stairs headed for the living area. "Bruce?" She called.

"Bruce had to go out for a bit." Tony answered back from his place at the window.

"Oh.." Tawny sighed.

"What's up kiddo?" Tony asked noticing the disappointed look on her face.

"I w-was just g-gonna ask b-Bruce s-something." She mumbled scuffing the toe of her show against the floor

"Well I'm twice as fun as bruce." Tony told her with a cocky grin. "maybe even three times... but that's beside the point. Why not ask me your question?"

Tawny studied him, well he did buy her clothes and food and stuff maybe he wouldn't mind her asking for something? It was worth a shot. "C-could y-you t-take m-me t-to s-see a-a-a.... a m-movie?"

Tony stared at her Pepper had told him that morning about all the things he had to do today. She'd never built up the courage to ask for anything before though. He just couldn't bring himself to tell her no the first time she asked him for anything. "Sure sweetheart whatcha wanna see?"

Tawny looked at him astounded, "y-yes? R-really?"

"Yeah really," Tony replied as he texted Pepper his change of plans. "So what's it gonna be?"

"B-b-big hero s-six?"

"Alrighty let's go"

Tony couldn't help but smile when the girl placed her hand in his and began swinging them back and forth happily as they walked to the car.

"Buckle up buttercup" Tony said grinning before pulling into the street. "Jarvis music."

"Right away sir" Jarvis replied before the car was filled with the sounds of Hot Blooded by Foreigner.

Tony couldn't hide his surprise when a sweet voice joined the song.

"Well I'm hot blooded check it and see! got a fever of a hundred and three! come on baby do you do more than dance? I'm hot blooded hot blooded!" Tawny sang beautifully before starting to giggle.

"Hey what was that!?" Tony exclaimed astonished. "Why didn't you tell me you could sing like that!?"

Tawny blushed and looked down into her lap. "I-I'm n-not that g-great."

"Are you kidding me I think I'll replace all my music with you singing my favorite songs" Tony teased.

Tawny simply giggled in reply making Tony wish he could think of anything else to say to keep her laughing. She had a beautiful laugh and he was going to make sure it came out more often. No child should be afraid to have fun.

Tawny' eyes were round with excitement as they entered the movie theater and bought their tickets. Tony couldn't help but spoil the kid and brought drinks, popcorn, and candy. He felt like a giant when she looked up at him adoringly, completely grateful for every little thing he did. Sure he had adoring fans but somehow it was so much more meaningful that this small child liked him than any of the fans he was used to.

Within the first few minutes of the movie Tawny was in tears, "w-why would h-he go back in t-there!? Now h-his brother I-is all a-alone!" She whispered in disbelief.

Tony chuckled and wrapped his arm around her. "Eh I'm sure it will get better kid."

There were other outbursts too like when the bad guy turned out to be the supposedly dead professor.

"B-but he d-died trying to s-save him!!"

Or when baymax didn't make it out of the teleportation machine.

"Th-this is a t-terrible movie!"

By the time the credits rolled she was completely in love with it again.

"So Whatcha think kid?" Tony questioned as they got back in the car.

"They're kinda like us.." Tawny said thoughtfully.

"You mean cuz I'm a super hero?"

"W-well that, and y-you are kinda l-like baymax cuz I was all sad and a-alone like Hero and y-you s-showed up and made stuff better." Tawny told him sincerely.

Tony felt a lump enter his throat and fought to keep composure. "So uh you.. you want ice cream?" He said in a slightly emotional voice.

"Ice cream?! Really?!" Tawny squealed excitedly.

Tony just smiled and drove to the nearest ice cream parlor. Tawny savored every taste of her vanilla milkshake, Tony's own ice cream melting as he watched her enjoying her treat. Somehow he had to make sure he was always around to do things like this for her.

"Excuse me Mr. Stark can you tell me who the kid is?" A voice questioned sticking something into his face.

Tony groaned irritated, 'really they had to ruin our day out!?' Without much thought Tony pulled Tawny up into his arms, shielding her as best he could from the reporters throwing innumerable questions at them, and hurried to the car. "Sorry bout that kid."

"I-it's ok, y-you're a b-big deal." Tawny replied. She didn't tell him that without reporters pestering him so often it wouldn't have been nearly as easy for her to find him. Someday she'd tell him but not today, today had been fantastic and she'd cherish it forever. "T-thank you for t-taking me to the m-movie Tony and f-for the ice cream."

"No problem sweetheart, you're officially my favorite date." he replied winking at her in the rear view mirror. "Tawny?"

"What Tony?"

Tony looked at her face she had a slight milk mustache from the shake, her eyes were getting heavy, and for the first time since he'd known her she looked truly happy and worry free like a kid should. He wanted more than almost anything to know what she'd told Bruce. suddenly, however, he wanted her to tell him herself. "Never mind kiddo."

"T-Tony?"

"Yeah kid?"

"A-are you st-still m-mad at m-me?" She stammered out eyes tearing up.

Tony sighed, "no kid I'm not mad, I was I was furious. I care about you and im not used to caring that much about anyone but Pepper and not knowing where you were or if you were safe made me crazy. I can't stay mad at you though you're my buddy right?"

Tawny just stared at him astonished.

"What?" Tony asked laughed at her shocked expression.

"I-I d-don't get it? Y-you were s-so mad at m-me. B-but y-you you n-never...." She trailed off uncertainly.

It took Tony a minute to understand what she didn't want to say. The moment he did he pulled over, turned around, and pulled her as close as the seatbelt would stretch for an awkward hug. "Listen kiddo I want you to listen to me real close cuz I need you to know this. I'm an idiot im selfish sometimes, I can be thoughtless, I'll try not to but sometimes I might even shout at you, but I would never, ever hit you for anything you got that?"

Tawny unbuckled her seatbelt and flew into his arms crying. "I love you t-Tony."

Also did anyone catch that this is the first picture of Tawny smiling? This was all planned I hope someone noticed.

Ok readers here's a funny every time I type Bruce my phone tries to autocorrect it to brucealicious lol no idea why but it cracks me up!!
