It's been a while

Izuku had promised Eri that he would take her with him the next time he went to wash their clothes, and he always tried his best to keep his promises.

Thats why he was currently walking down a busy street with Eri on his back and an umbrella and bag of dirty laundry balanced in his arms. The rain had lulled the girl to sleep- which didn't surprise Izuku at all because it was an hour after she would normally be asleep.

He wove in and out of the crowd until he spotted an old sign above the umbrellas and raincoats, the lights in the sign flickered and as he got closer and got farther away from the mass of bodies, he could hear a slight buzzing noise.

"Welcome." A tired voice called out when the greenette entered the laundromat, the door opening with an obnoxiously loud beeping noise.

"An idiot somehow shorted out ten of our washing machines, so only one is available." The teen sitting by the door flipped a page in his book, pointing to the one working washing machine that unfortunately already appeared to be in use.

The broccoli boy shifted Eri on his back and walked over to a bench to wait his turn, setting down the umbrella and bag of dirty clothes before shifting Eri from his back to into his arms so he could sit down.

"Oh hey, its you."

Nemuri POV

Nemuri Immediately wished she hadn't said that.

The boy flinched so hard he almost fell off the bench, and the little girl he was holding had now been startled awake due to the jostling.

"Shit, sorry kid. I'm Nemuri Kayama, you can call me Nemuri- I just recognized you from a month or so ago." The pro hero in civilian clothing scratched the back of her neck, trying not to look visibly worried over his reaction.

"I-I'm Izuku...how did yo-you recognize m-me?" He had started rocking back and forth slowly, lulling the half-awake girl back asleep.

"I was out with some friends and- um...they uh... kinda..." Nemuri could feel her brows drawing together as she struggled to come up with a way to hide that she, Aizawa, and Hizashi were pro heroes.

"Oh, f-from when I stopped th-that robbery?" Izuku blinked in surprise, recognition clear on his face.

"Yeah, my friends and I passed by you and your sister that night." The R rated hero offered up her best smile, only to get a blank face in return.

That was something she had noticed about the boy; he wasn't very expressive unless taken off guard. When he was taken by surprise his reaction made Nemuri worried.

"You're Midnight, r-right?" The teen asked hesitantly, adjusting his sister's position in his arms.

"What makes you think that?" The woman who was indeed midnight asked, curious.

"Y-you just sound like her, and y-your friends are heroes too." Izuku's face was kept carefully blank, making Nemuri more suspicious.

"I guess you got me then, do my friends know that you know?" Nemuri admitted and asked with a sigh, pushing her red glasses up.

The boy simply shrugged, covering the girl's ears just before a loud buzzer went off to say that the washing machine was done. The pro hero turned to empty the wet clothes into a dryer so the kid could take care of his laundry. It hadn't really registered with her until now, but it was a bit unusual for a teen and his little sister to be out so late to wash clothes. However, if what Aizawa said about their parents was true than Nemuri would just be snooping into their business by asking.

"Alright, it's all yours." Nemuri stepped back from the washing machine, turning to start turning on the dryer.

Izuku had set his sister on the bench and was in the process of dumping a bag of clothes into the single working washing machine. All of the clothing looked like it belonged to him and his sister, but there were a couple pieces with obvious rips and stains.

Nemuri's frown deepened when she realized that all of the larger clothes were in this condition. Was his family struggling with money? If the boy had his own job, why wasn't he using any of the money on new clothes?

The pro had been staring too long, she realized that when the teen's shoulders stiffened, and he shuffled over to sit with his sister while the clothes were being washed. Nemuri quickly looked away after that and focused more on the clothing drying, she had chosen the shortest cycle in the hopes of getting home soon.

(I didn't really know how to end this chapter, its REALLY short so I'm super sorry. I wasn't really sure where to take this chapter so it's probably for the best that it ended quickly :p)
