𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐋𝐄𝐅𝐓 𝐑𝐔𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐎𝐌𝐁 shelter, promising her that he'd be right back. he had put her headphones in her ears and started to play one of her favorite songs to help calm her down before he had left. the bowen girl had turned the volume up to it's max, trying to drown out the sound of the winds that were hitting the school building. she pulled her hood over her head and pulled at the drawstrings to tighten it. she closed her eyes to try and calm herself down, quietly humming the words to like real people do by hozier. she felt someone gently grab her hand, making her open her eyes to see that it was remy. the older boy gestured for her to pause her the song. she did it.
"ricky told me what's going on. you okay? do you need anything?" he quizzed, looking at the girl with furrowed eyebrows. rue simply shook her head. with that, remy wrapped his arm around her, knowing that comfort would help.
"so, where have you been?" rue questioned, her voice soft as she melted into the senior boy.
"talking to ej. found him in one of the classrooms, and he kinda ranted to me about not getting into duke." remy answered.
"aw, man. that sucks. i know that was his dream school." rue mumbled.
"yeah, don't bring it up around him. but, after that we just kinda talked. and i hate that i'm about to say this. . . but i like him. a lot. more than i should." remy informed, making rue smile. she knew that remy had like ej, she was just waiting for him to admit it to himself.
