MIKAYLA

. . .

I stare blankly at the gold medal I won in a painting competition at the national level. Impressive, I know. The entire class either praised me or grumbled behind my back but not a single person I found who was genuinely happy and admired my talent.

I can't even find one. It is only my Dad who loves me and admires me. I know once I reach home, I'm gonna receive a gift for this achievement.

However, I'm very much annoyed now because my stomach hurts and my back, too.

I wish I could escape this day. I would have skipped school today but I couldn't forget about this competition. I wanted another medal in my collection to annoy my cousins; to make them jealous.

I know the idea is great but what about now?

I hide my face in my arms and sigh. The pain between my thighs is the cruelest. I just want to go home as soon as possible!

"Priyanka! He's here!"

"They won!"

"I see the trophy in his hands!"

Yelling like witches drunk on fresh blood, they leave the classroom, hopping around like kangaroos.

The person they are so excited to see is Blondie Dawood who, too, had a competition at the national level. And guess what? As they have said and I couldn't keep my ears shut, I have heard that he has won.

Again!

Every year he brings out the school's fame and popularity and every year he shines even brighter. Blah blah blah. What's so special there?

Soon enough, I start hearing the sound of students yelling and screaming through the corridors, welcoming their prince. Not something new. He is welcomed every year like this, like a king has returned from a battlefield. The difference is, they shed blood, and he, a lot of sweat.

I giggle over my own thoughts and soon, the area between my thighs replies with an ache.

I look up and the entire classroom is empty. I glance down at my wristwatch and realize that the school is over. Half an hour has passed.

Still, they have stayed here.

"Hey, what are you looking at?"

I look towards the door and see my classmate. Dakota. As manly as her name sounds, she is more of a bitch who is crazy after Blondie and hates me to the guts. I hate her, too.

"None of your business. Go and welcome your prince charming," I grumble, my hand going towards my stomach as I hold it lightly.

I should have bought painkillers and an extra napkin.

"Of course, I have," she grins, coming towards me, "He even smiled at me. Unlike you, whom he doesn't even spare an eye."

I roll my eyes. As much as I have noticed that Blond-head, I know he almost smiles at everybody. I don't know what runs through his veins.

"Aren't you too arrogant?" She utters at me, holding my certificate and scanning it down.

"You too can roll your eyes. No biggie. And why are you annoying me with your catlike appearance?"

She frowns down at me. Like a cat, as I said.

"How dare you?" She utters, dropping my certificate and putting her shoe upon it.
