"Mom, dad?" I ask as I walk into their office.
"Yes hon?" my mom asks, standing beside my dad as they talk to my aunt Jude about something.
"I was wondering if I could go over to Lesli's house?" I ask.
"Why?" my dad asks, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Rhett... yes you can go, love but keep us posted." my mom says.
"Will do. Hey Aunt Jude." I say as I turn to walk out of the room.
"Hey, good to see you, Rudy." she says to me.
I walk downstairs I get a whiff of a scent I haven't smelled in a while.
"Hey Uncle Colton." I say as my mom's brother comes into view.
He turns to face me with an eye roll, "Stop calling me 'Uncle' We're practically the same age."
I laugh at that.
"Well, got to go, Lesli's." I say and he simply nods at me before going to my parent's office.
And that night at Lesli's was the night that changed my entire life. A night I will never forget.
