"WE'RE GETTING LATE" DICK YELLED AS HE CHECKED HIS WATCH AGAIN, WAITING FOR ATHENA TO COME DOWN. "Hold your horses, Grayson" She countered and he didn't look away from the doors of the ballroom "Even Tim's early, where were-Oh"

She descended the steps in a backless, golden gown, which made him catch his breath. He couldn't help but stare. She raised a brow "Are you going to just stand there and gape?" She asked and he gave her an attractive smile "Yes." She couldn't help but roll her eyes, her lip slightly quirked up "Well, stop it. You look like an imbecile."

"If I get to stare at you? Gladly" A breathy laugh escaped her lips "It is a wonder, how women throw themselves at you"

Dick rolled his eyes "Obviously my charm, good looks and wordplay" She shook her head "Definitely not your wordplay" She didn't deny the other two qualities and the guy was quick to catch on with a smug smirk "So you think I'm handsome?" She shook her head "In your wildest dreams, Grayson" He offered her his arm and they entered the ballroom to see pompous rich people gathered around to throw money and 'help' the poor by having cocktails and a very expensive buffet.

Galas at the manor were not a rare occurrence, Bruce's PR manager had almost always taken every opportunity to host such a gathering, for charitable purposes of course. He would also force the people of the family to attend, including the Golden boy of Gotham Richard Grayson and Tim, because he lived there.

He wasn't officially adopted since his parents were still alive and well, but he was a beloved member of the family. Alfred was always excited for such shindigs as he believed Bruce might find his soulmate in the crowds like a true love story. For an old man so capable and trained, he was a sucker for romance. That, and he hoped he would give up his infatuation with the criminal cabal of women he'd involve himself with.

Athena was forced to attend these things ever since she came to live with them and Dick would force her to come every time. Part of her enjoyed it, she supposed. It wasn't all bad and she mostly stuck around for the shrimp.

Herself, Tim and Dick stood in a corner as the younger one waited for his date to arrive eagerly "You'll burn a hole through the door, Timmy" Dick teased and Tim scoffed "I'm not even looking at the door"

"No, you are not" Athena mused sarcastically and Tim cleared his throat, scratching the back of his neck "Oh look, there's Barbara" The said red head walked towards them with a smile and greeted them "How are you?" Athena questioned and Barbara smiled "I'm good" The assassin offered her a small smirk "Might I say you look ravishing?"

"Ok. Don't make me fall in love with you Athy. We both know the things you do to me" Athena shook her head fondly and Tim brightened at the soft tune playing, offering his hand to Athena who raised a brow "Absolutely not"
