Unfortunately, Harry's sudden excitement and fascination with trying to get into the Room of Requirement had not abated overnight. Though given the night he'd had, Y/N found it hard to care.

Hermione also seemed rather giggly today and both of them kept blocking out Harry's fervent attempts to convince them that it would work, and he would have Malfoy this time, leaving Ron to deal with that. They elected instead to keep throwing flirty remarks back and forth at each other.

Well, until Lavender dropped in alongside them.

'You two seem in a good mood today,' said Lavender, glancing over at Y/N and Hermione.

Both Y/N and Hermione smirked at each other but stopped.

Evidently aware of the fact that he was going to get no more of an encouraging response from any of them, Harry instead attempted to reason with the couple.

'Look, I haven't forgotten about Slughorn, but until I get a brainwave why shouldn't I investigate this?'

'Because you could spend the free period trying to convince Slughorn,' suggested Y/N politely. 'Look Harry, you do you. If you want to chase Malfoy, chase him. Quite frankly, at this point, you're either going to get the memory or you aren't. And I'm getting sick of pestering you about it.'

Hermione unfurled her copy of the Daily Prophet and opened it so that she and Y/N could see it, cutting off Harry's retort.

'Anyone we know?' asked Ron.

'Yeah, someone who deserves it though,' said Y/N. 'Mundungus has wound up in Azkaban for trying to impersonate an Inferius during an attempted burglary.'

'Someone called Octavius Pepper has vanished,' said Hermione. 'Oh, and how horrible, a nine-year-old boy has been arrested for trying to kill his grandparents, they think he was under the Imperius Curse.'

Hermione set off for Ancient Runes, giving Y/N a rather forceful kiss before she went, winking over her shoulder at him, and Y/N stepped out onto the grounds to head down to Hagrid's hut feeling slightly bemused.

This was hardly the first time they'd done... well... that. She just seemed particularly affectionate after that one. Not that he was complaining.

Y/N had a rather enjoyable lesson with Hagrid, where he was taught about the Golden Snidget. A bird that had been used in replacement of the Snitch during early Quidditch games, but the practice had been stopped after this had almost driven them to extinction, causing them to be labelled a protected species and force the use of the Golden Snitch instead.

Following this, Y/N made his way back up to the castle and into the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.

He sat himself down next to Hermione who beamed radiantly at him, but jumped slightly as Snape's voice snapped,

'Late again, Potter, ten points from Gryffindor.'

Y/N looked around. To be fair, half the class were still on their feet, but Harry had only just arrived. He moved over and took the seat on Y/N's other side, between him and Ron.

'Before we start, I want your Dementor essays,' said Snape, waving his wand carelessly, so that twenty-six scrolls of parchment soared into the air and landed in a neat pile on his desk. 'And I hope for your sakes they are better than the tripe I had to endure on resisting the Imperius Curse. Now, if you will all open your books to page- what is it, Mr. Finnigan?'

'Sir,' said Seamus, 'I've been wondering, how do you tell the difference between an Inferius and a ghost? Because there was something in the paper about an Inferius-'
