Camila brushed her hair out of her face and studied herself in the mirror next to the door, reaching up to fix the signature beanie on her head. She spun around once before smoothing out the mint green sweater she had chosen to wear. The small girl jumped when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist.

"Stop overthinking it, babe. Y'look adorable," Lauren whispered, her morning voice prominent. Camila blushed, looking away when her girlfriend kissed her shoulder gently.

"I'm serious," Lauren giggled, using one of her hands to tilt Camila's chin so she was looking straight into the mirror. "Look at yourself. You're absolutely beautiful. Every inch of you," she pressed a kiss to Camila's cheek.

"Now get your butt into the car before you're late to your first day of work," Lauren teased, removing herself from Camila so she could grab her keys from the hanger near the door. Soon enough, their car was pulling out into the street.

It was easy to tell that Camila was nervous. Lauren could see by the way she was digging her nails into the denim material of her jeans and tapping her foot impatiently. The green eyed girl reached over and took her hand to calm her down.

"There's nothing to be afraid of," Lauren said softly. Camila glanced over at her, her bottom lip drawn inbetween her teeth. "Really, Camz. It's okay to be nervous. But don't freak yourself out, yeah? Kids love you. You'll do great."

"And if you think it's too much for you, we'll find you something else, okay? Relax," Lauren smiled, bringing Camila's hand up to her lips and pressing a soft kiss on the back of her palm.

"Promise?" Camila laughed softly, holding up her pinky. Without hesitation, Lauren locked their pinkies together, a tradition they'd had for what felt like forever.

"Promise," Lauren nodded. Camila kept their pinkies interlocked, bringing her hand back into her lap and sighing softly. She was feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. Surprisingly, her excitement was overruling any anxiety she was feeling.

Camila sat up slightly when Lauren pulled into the small school parking lot. She couldn't help but smile when she saw the colorful playset, which was currently empty. Lauren glanced over at her girlfriend, watching her taking in all the surroundings.

"Do you want me to come in with you?" Lauren asked, squeezing Camila's hand.

"I got it," Camila laughed, leaning over and kissing Lauren's cheek. "Noon, right?"

"Yep," Lauren nodded, beginning to realize just how much her girlfriend had grown in the past few years. "You've got your phone?"

Camila rolled her eyes playfully, pulling her phone out of her pocket to show the girl in the driver's seat. Lauren gave her a thumbs up.

"Call me if you need anything," Lauren reminded her, earning another eye roll from Camila. "Okay, fine, maybe I'll just let you live here with the kids if you're gonna be so sassy," Lauren teased. Camila just stuck her tongue out, leaning in to plant another kiss on her girlfriend's cheek before she stood up.

Lauren watched as the smaller girl fixed the beanie on her head, taking a deep breath before slipping inside the school building. She couldn't help but wait a few minutes to make sure Camila didn't change her mind. The green eyed girl jumped when her phone buzzed.

[My Girl - 7:55] i love you. i forgot to tell you today

Lauren couldn't help the blush that spread across her cheeks. She raised her eyebrow when seconds later, Camila's message was followed by another, which only contained the turtle emoji. Another message appeared shortly after.
