"In a single instant, Drop, drop, drop, the rain starts falling, welling up in the corners of my eyes (The rain wells up) You well up..."

~Let Me Know-BTS

Taehyung peeked around the corner, scanning the hallways, nervous and scared and sure no one would like him just like they always did.

It had been two days. One day of studying with Jimin and Jungkook, though they didn't say much to him, and Jimin had all his attention on Jungkook. The day after that, Jimin and Kyung-mi had gone to school, and he'd had the house to himself.

He couldn't believe they'd just leave him in the house alone for two hours. Jimin's Mom didn't go to work when Jimin went to school, going sometime later, but when she did leave, Taehyung was alone in their house for two whole hours. Even if Mrs. Park had given him every emergency number she knew, he couldn't help but think that they were putting a lot of trust in him to not do something crazy.

And now whenever he looked at Mrs.Park, he thought of that word--adopt. It couldn't be true, Taehyung knew that, if someone wanted to adopt, they went to an orphanage, not a mental hospital. And there was the element of love. No one loved him, so they wouldn't want him in their family, it was that simple. And all Taehyung did was mess up their family anyway, he didn't fit with them.

But today was the day he'd been sick about, that he'd been queasy about, today was the day he was going to school. Today was the day his blood seemed to run through his veins like ice and his skin covered in goosebumps.

He wore the school uniform, white button up shirt, dark tie, black jacket, white jeans and a black belt, a backpack filled with newly bought books and supplies that Mrs. Park had picked up on her way back from work the day before. Jimin had spent half an hour on Taehyung's hair, teasing and tousling it until it looked boyish and kind of messy, but somehow put together.

Taehyung looked around the corner again, looking at all the students hanging out by their lockers, talking, laughing, sharing stories. Taehyung swallowed. That's what he would be, a story to tell everyone else about, some item to ridicule and poke at.

"Okay, first rule of surviving high school," Jungkook started, pulling Taehyung back away from the corner by the shoulder. "Don't peek around corners like a stalker. Doing that can get you two things, a whole bunch of people who want to hide from you, because that's creepy, or a whole bunch of people who will dismiss you as shy." Jungkook said, then turned to Jimin who was standing next to him. "Right?"

Jimin looked from Jungkook to Taehyung blankly. Then shrugged. "But he is shy."

I'm not, I just don't know what to say without you thinking the wrong things. "I'm sorry..." Taehyung said, giving a quick bow.

"Tae, don't be sorry." Jimin said, groaning.

"Yeah, and smile," Jungkook put his fingers to the corners of Taehyung's mouth, pushing his lips into a smile, and Taehyung couldn't help but grin wide and rectangular--for a second. "Why don't you smile?" Jungkook asked, sounding kind of sad, his expression as sad as he sounded, his hands coming away from Taehyung's face limply.

"I..." Taehyung stopped, about to apologize again. "I'm scared." He didn't want to admit it, but it was better then apologizing for the billionth time. I'm scared of what they'll say, what they'll think, what they'll do.

Jungkook pouted. No one had told him that Taehyung was 'crazy', so Jungkook was absolutely oblivious. Taehyung liked it that way, because he treated him like he was normal. "Taehyung, they're just hormonal teenagers, the worst they'll do at this stage is stare at your butt." Jungkook took a lollipop out of his pocket and unwrapped it, sticking the red candy in his cheek. "Seriously, that's probably what they'll do, so prepare yourself for that."
