Thirds

It always takes me three times to learn how to navigate to a new place.

The first time I'm probably not even listening.
The second, I'm second guessing my memories against the first.
And the third is the deciding one.

If I mess up by the third, the cycle repeats itself.

I never learn on the fourth/fifth try.
Only the third, sixth, ninth.
It has always been this way.
No reason, no explanation.

No clue as to what this means,
This weird, unorthodox way of learning things.

So if I seem lost and disoriented to you,
Look at me again, one or two more times.
I'm trying my hardest,
And your patience won't be for naught.
