An Ode to Mental Health
he thinks, he sees, he feels
something exists, something is real
his mind, a canvass he can't contain
a light underneath all the hurricane.you think it's funny? well, think again.
she harms herself, she cuts
a world she wants to shut
she copes with life by the blade's end
slits and burns on where she can.you think it's funny? well, think again.
he dreams, he's numb, he's scared
he thinks he's unprepared
an accident might happen again
he stays inside, he sits and bends.you think it's funny? well, think again.
she worries, she fears, she panics
the pressure too much to hide it
a crowded event she can't attend
she palpitates and fails to stand.you think it's funny? well, think again.
he tries, he forgets, he can't say
his mind is slowly slipping away
memories drip, he can't repair
the falling parts, he can't suspendyou think it's funny? well, think again.
she feels, she's down, she's depressed
emotions she can't suppress
a darkness looms, she can't explain
she tries so hard to hide the pain.you think it's funny? well, think again.
their struggles are real and true
and it might happen to you
awareness, compassion, and sympathy
to face this human realityyou think it's funny? well, think again.
we judge, we mock, we burn
we have a lot to learn
mental health is a real campaign
so be informed about your brain.you think it's funny? well, never again.
Note: According to study, one in four of us will experience a serious problem with our mental well-being at some point in our lives. This means it is highly unlikely any of us will make it through life without having a problem or being close to someone who does.
So let's be sensitive enough to know and learn about mental health and issues.
Mental issues like depression, anxiety, OCD, dementia, etc. are real and should be taken seriously. Never laugh about it.
