Chapter 5
Is It Magic?

Kiara rushed home, unable to find Clary anywhere. When she reached her apartments she saw Clary standing at the entrance.

"Couldn't have waited for me. Too much to ask of you." Kiara said to her sister.

The two entered only to find two other people sitting on the couch in the living room.

"Natasha! Vihaan!" Kiara greeted her two best friends.

"There's the birthday girl!" Vihaan said hugging her.

"Mom, we are going upstairs." Kiara said not waiting for her mother to say anything before she turned and left.

Once inside the room, the pair handed Kiara two gifts.

"Open." Natasha told her.

Kiara tore the wrapping sheet eagerly. She opened the velvet box inside to find a bracelet.

"It's beautiful." She said, smiling at her friend.

"Keep it on. I hope it becomes to you what the necklace you have me became for me. Something that reminds you that you have someone you can count on. Something that gives you hope when you feel hopeless." Natasha said, smiling.

"I know it will." Kiara said as she kept put it on and kept the velvet box on the pile of A4 size sheets on her desk.

She opened Vihaan's gift to find a ring. The most beautiful one she had ever seen. Along with it, she saw an album. A super think album. She opened it and flipped through it to find pictures of Vihaan and herself.

"A little something to remind you of me. To remind you that even when we are not physically together, we're family." He said.

"I love it. Thank you! I can't live without the two of you!" Kiara said as she threw her arms around the pair. She turned around and noticed something off.

"Guys? Didn't I just keep the velvet box on the desk?" She asked.

"You did. On the pile of papers...." Natasha said.

The trio looked towards the pile and saw a very realistic picture of a velvet box on the top most sheet of paper.

"I didn't draw that." Kiara said.

"We know. The paper was black when we came." Vihaan said.

Kiara picker a pencil from her desk and put it in the paper and slightly tapped it. And it disappeared, a picture of a pencil appearing on the blank sheet in its stead.

"Am I imagining?" Kiara asked.

"You're not." Natasha confirmed.

"What's happening?" Kiara asked.

"I have no clue Ara." Vihaan said. "But I can check the library and the net. I might find something at least relatively similar."

"I'll do the same." Natasha said. "I'm sorry. We love to stay with you but we only came to wish. Both of us need to go. His mother wanted his help in something and I'm going hiking with my brother tomorrow. Need to prepare."

"It's okay. Go." Kiara said. She watched her friends leave before she turned back to the sheets of paper. She tried to get the velvet box out. She gasped when her hand entered the paper and the box fell in her hand.

She never really thought about magic. But that's the only explanation she had for it. Magic.
