I've never been in love, at least I don't think I have. Is it supposed to be this complicated? I've heard that if it's true love, it would be easy. But this, this isn't.

I capped my pen and closed my notebook, sighing as I looked at the trees speeding past. The shapes and sights seemed to blur together after awhile of staring out the window, and I couldn't take my eyes away.

"Hey," I heard Logan say. He was leaning against the wall of the RV, grinning at me happily. "Are you up for another Scrabble match? I learned how to spell prestidigitation, if it helps."

I shook my head glumly and leaned back against my pillows. "I'm not really in the mood for Scrabble right now. I'm not really in the mood for anything, if I'm being honest."

Logan shrugged. "That's cool too." He took a seat on the floor and opened up his phone. It made me smile- Logan was good for me like that. He knew when I needed company and when I didn't, when I wanted to talk and when that was the last thing I wanted to do. And he always respected it, too, without arguing with me. I never told him, but I was really grateful for him.

It was the day of Halloween, and most teens were out partying or getting drunk. I, however, was crammed into a rolling tin can on route 30, heading to either eternal happiness or certain misery.

I missed Noah. Ever since Kate and Logan joined us on the road, I had spent a lot less time with him. We didn't talk or tease each other anymore, and it annoyed me.

He was only in the front, driving, but it wasn't like I could just go talk to him. Kate was latched onto him at all times, like some sort of clingy leech.

I peeked my head out from behind the curtain and sure enough, I could see them hamming it up together. Kate laughed about something and lightly touched his forearm, letting it linger there for a moment longer than she had to.

Suddenly, a passionate fire consumed me and I was inspired. I stood up and angrily stalked to the front, my brown hair flicking behind me.

"So, how's it going?" I asked impatiently, as if I had more important matters to get to- which I did.

"Oh," Noah said, surprised. "It's going pretty well, actually, we were just-"

"Good, good," I interrupted. "Anyway, I need a favor from you, Kate."

She wrinkled her nose. "From me?" she asked, incredulous.

"Yes, you, princess," I replied. "You need to go somewhere else. Please."

Kate knit her eyebrows together and stood up. "You don't have the authority to make me go away," she growled, deadly calm but also dangerously furious.

"Yes I do, actually," I said in a sickeningly sweet voice. "This is my RV, my trip, and my life plan that you've barged into and disrupted."

She blinked, dumbfounded. Then she stepped over the seat and started walking away, her infuriatingly beautiful black hair swinging behind her like a curtain.

Kate stopped and turned around, then hissed, "I'm leaving, but only because I want to."

I smiled, satisfied for the moment, and hopped into the passenger's seat.

"We'll have to have a schedule for this seat," I mused. "I want it from nine to four, she can have it from four to ten."

"But then you get more time than her," Noah pointed out.

I glared at him for a moment and said nothing.

"Anyway," he continued. "What's up with that screaming match I just witnessed? Is Ellen a teeny bit jealous?"
