In Your Shadow

Prologue

"Kiba! Hinata! Isn't he near yet?!" I asked for about five times now in just a minute.

We're on a mission to find Itachi and bring him to Konoha as a bait for Sasuke but surprisingly, one of my kagi bunshin (clone) crossed path with Sasuke and now we're tracking him down.

I can't wait longer. After encountering Itachi, I know it's only a matter of time before they fight and kill each other. I don't know how much Sasuke grow but Itachi's strength isn't measurable for me.

"Shit!" Kiba cursed and stopped on a tree trunk.

"What is it?" Kakashi-sensei asked as we all stopped.

"Sasuke's scent is scattered everywhere." Kiba said.

"Seems like they noticed that they are being pursued." Captain Yamato stated earning a nod from Kakashi-sensei.

"Their little trick won't work on me." I said forming a seal. "Tajuu Kagi Bunshin Technique!"

"I'm counting on you guys." I said to my clones as they scatter everywhere.

"Let's get going." Kakashi-sensei said.

We continue searching for Sasuke when a massive explosion happened not too far from us.

We all stopped and look at it.

"Kakashi-sensei!" I shouted and he nods.

We run to the direction of the explosion through the trees only to stop by a peculiar black flames.

"Amaterasu." Kakashi-sensei muttered.

"Leave it to me." Captain Yamato said, forming an earth element seal making the ground escalate and break in the middle.

I don't waste any second to keep running. I heard them calling my name and telling me to wait but I just don't listen.

Sasuke.. wait for me.

I quickly froze in my spot with the scene right in front of my eyes.

Itachi lying on the floor, lifeless.

Sasuke leaning his back on the wall, staring at nowhere with a stunned look.

And..

A flying lighting arrow directly pointing at Sasuke.

He doesn't seems to noticed it. He's not moving or even blinking.

"SASUKE!!!" I shouted as my body began to move on its own.

For a shinobi like me, pointless deaths are equivalent as trash. It's doesn't matter how you live but how you die and what you did before you become breathless.

But here I am, losing all ways to protect not only him but also myself. I jumped on time to put myself in front of him, welcoming the unbearable pain of electricity. It hit right on my left chest, instantly numbing every part of my body.

I won't die unless I become a hokage.

But with this, I wasn't so sure.

It's not a pointless death, afterall.

Isn't it..? Sasuke?
