Amelia sat on the bench with her head low. She felt tensed to see Elaine again after a month of not having contact with each other, and she felt terrible within those weeks. She was surprised that Elaine even texted her, which could possibly mean two things: her mother was going to show up with her and demand to stay away from her or Elaine will show up, but say that it's over and it will eternally be over until the day she dies.

She's not afraid of being in love again. In fact, she'd open her door for it. But she wanted it to be Elaine and no one else, showing how desperate she can be for someone who can easily leave her without hesitation. She sighed deeply to herself, I want a drink.

Not after five minutes later into her thoughts, Elaine showed up with squinted eyes. She couldn't believe it—Elaine is here, in the same area with her. She feels these rollercoaster of emotions, not knowing where to begin. Before the girl could say anything, Amelia got up and embraced her tightly.

Amelia missed her scent, her softness, her hair that feels delicate whenever she thread her fingers all over it. She whispered, "I can't believe you're here."

"I know, me too," Elaine murmured into her neck as she wrapped her arms tightly around Amelia's waist. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry—"

"Don't be, please," she shushes. "I should be the one to apologize, Elaine. I've put you through so much—you don't deserve this at all."

Elaine let out an exasperated sigh and distanced herself a bit. Her eyes catch the sunlight, illuminating her with a radiant beauty. It's been a month, but the absence of this woman feels like an eternity to her.

"Your eyes," she stammered as she became aware of how dark her circles under her eyes were. "Have you been sleeping?"

"I've been in Hong Kong for nearly three weeks," Amelia says with a weary chuckle. "I recently returned home, just a few days ago."

"How's Hong Kong?"

"Amazing. I spent the majority of my time with Leslie," she says, bringing Elaine to the lawn where they both sit. "It's been great, but it hasn't been the same without you by my side."

Elaine felt a surge of joy. It was heartwarming to hear her say that, knowing that she was also consumed by thoughts of the woman. They were both in the same situation. She observes Amelia's hand twitch and gently reaches out to touch it, causing her to shudder. "Elaine..."

"You seem to be trembling."

"I'm sorry, I don't know why you wanted to see me. After all that we've been through, you know?"

"We've been pretty rough," she said, which was not a lie. "But before you say anything, I just want to let you know that my mother and I talked about you. Surprisingly, she has finally given us her approval. It's absolutely mind-boggling. That's why I suggested we meet up, to reassure you that she's fine with it."

Amelia wore a perplexed expression on her face. She couldn't help but ponder why Monica had given her approval to be with Elaine, but she found solace in the newfound sense of security. Uncertain of Monica's honesty, she found some comfort in this.

"Is that really true?" she asked, as if she couldn't believe her own eyes. "We're talking about Monica, El—"

"Yes, I understand. It's bizarre. But it felt so real as well, she was being serious."

Amelia's breath escapes her in a sigh of relief as she delicately touches her forehead. "I can't... This is hard to believe."

"Feels like a fever dream."

"Yeah, it really does," she chuckles, lifting her chin to watch the other children playing soccer. Her gaze shifted towards Elaine, her hand gently guiding Elaine's to rest near her stomach. "And what about you?"

"What about me?" Elaine echoed.

"W-Would you... Come back to me?" she asked, her eyes full of hope. This is it, this is her only chance to make things right. "I know I've lied to you so many times, and I'm so sorry that I have. But if you understand, Elaine, I was doing it for the sake of our relationship. I didn't want to lose you, and I know that was selfish of me. Because I realized at the end of the day, you will find out. I should've just told you everything."

Elaine nodded in agreement. "You're right, you should've," she stated. "But I understand you did it because you loved me."

"I love you," Amelia whispered, her words feeling like a wind for Elaine. She wanted to hear those words over and over again. "Do you know that? I love you, Elaine."

Elaine cupped her face, and her thumb delicately caressed her cheek. Amelia leant on her hand, somehow seeking reassurance. "Do you want to know something, Amelia Yeong? Do you want to know how I'm in love with you?"

Amelia's attention was immediately captured, her eyes growing wider. Indeed, she distinctly remembers Elaine expressing her love for her during their phone conversation. Yet, she had never heard her confess her love, and her heart began to heal once more. Finally, someone in this vast universe has fallen in love with her. After a long period of believing that she would never experience love, not even from her husband, she is now being blessed with it once more.

Is this a dream? Amelia thought to herself.

"Elaine—"

"I've been in love with you ever since you kissed me in that classroom," Elaine says with a choked breath. "I've been in love with your tenderness, your effortlessness, your mind. I'm in love with who you are, and what you'll become. And I want to be with you every step of the way, I want to know you more and let me be your person."

"Sweetheart," Amelia choked out as she took Elaine's face with her hands, kissing her forehead feverishly. It felt too good to be this close to her, after so long of not seeing each other. "You don't know how happy that makes me. I... I don't know what to say—"

"Trust me, I didn't at first," Elaine lets out a high pitch chuckle as she tucks Amelia's hair strand behind her ear. "But I just know that I can't stay away from your any longer; I need to be near you."

Amelia releases a contented breath as she gently presses her lips against Elaine's. She let out a soft sigh as she felt the girl's tongue gently caress her lips, a moment filled with longing and desire. Elaine's desperation was palpable, and the woman couldn't help but understand her. After a considerable amount of time, she slowly separates from Elaine with a sigh of satisfaction and gently presses her forehead against Elaine's.

"Come with me to London."

Elaine's eyes widen in surprise. "What? Are you kidding me? What if—"

Amelia interjected, suggesting that we could spend a few weeks there. "I'll bring you to my childhood home and show you around. My parents are expecting me to come home any time soon, so I was hoping that somehow you'd come along with me."

Elaine paused briefly. Would anyone even notice if she and Amelia disappeared for a few weeks? Francis would barely recognise him, not even Carl. However, her thoughts drifted to her mum, who still harboured some reservations about Amelia, despite giving her permission to date her. She nervously bit her inner cheek, lost in a world of possibilities.

Amelia's eyebrows crease in confusion. "You don't think it's a good idea?"

"It is," Elaine groaned. "But I don't know, would Mom even allow me to?"

"I'm not sure," Amelia murmured, gently supporting Elaine's shoulder with her arm. She kisses the side of her temple and continued, "But we'll work it out, yeah? We're not leaving until a few weeks. Give some time to think about it."

Elaine desperately longed for her mother's permission to accompany Amelia, as it might be their last chance to bond before she left for college. What unfolds next? She didn't mind at that moment; she was overjoyed to be in the woman's embrace once more.
