Ricky and Nini, Grade 7.

Friday, 9AM :
Nini was standing in front of her locker, taking out her books for History class, when Kaiser walked past, nonchalantly whistling, bag slung on one shoulder. Kaiser was your typical  every-girl-drools-for-him boy, with beach blonde hair, and piercing green eyes, and a perfect tan.

Sure, Nini liked Kaiser, but she didnt know exactly whether she liked him as a friend or something more. She met him when they worked together for a science project. He was definitely going to be the junior captain for the junior football team in the next year or so and was pretty tall for his age. He was also an A student. He made eye contact with her for less than a second, smirked at her flushed reaction and walked away.

Nini stood against the locker wall, staring into empty space, daydreaming, when Ricky walked in, skateboard tucked under one arm, Big Red tagging along. Ricky never seemed to be alone these days, Big Red, who became his other best friend, following him everywhere. Not that Nini and Red weren't friends, it's just that Nini didn't feel comfortable talking to Ricky with Big red around.

Ricky walked up to Nini a small smile on his face, 'Hey Neens, thinking about all the fun we'll have tomorrow? 'Nini? Hello?' Nini was absorbed in her thoughts and came back to reality when she heard her name being called multiple times.

'Oh hey Ricky, Big Red, I'm sorry what were you talking about?' she asked. 'You zoned out. I was asking you a question. Neens, everything okay?' Ricky asked, the concern in his voice evident.

'Uh, what was your question?'

'Never mind..Pick you up at 4 tomorrow?' 'Oh, yeah.. Six flags..yeah for sure.' Ricky stood there for a second, as if to say something and shook his head slightly, deciding to not speak anything further. Big Red stood there awkwardly. 'So.. you guys are going to six flags tomorrow?'
'Uh, yeah...' Ricky said. 'Am I not like, invited?' Big Red asked.
'No, it's not like that, Red. We planned this months ago.. And we only have two tickets.. so..if you want to come with us, I can ask Ricky to-' 'No, its cool, I totally get it. Its okay, Have fun! he said and walked away, a hint of disappointment passing along his face.

Ricky walked Nini to her class and went to his class while she took her seat. Ugh, History, she thought to herself. Boring.

A few minutes later, Kaiser walked in, and Mr. Brown, the History teacher, was surprised.
'What are you doing here, Mr..?

'Prince.'Well, Mr. Prince, what brings you here today?' 'Well, I was switched here because there was a mistake in my schedule and this is where im supposed to be. 'Okay then, almost all the seats are full.. lets see.. why dont you take a seat next to Ms. Salazar-Roberts?'

He sat down and gave her a small smile and turned back to the board, giving his full attention. Nini buried her nose in the books and sometimes staring blankly at her notes. Mr Brown continued to explain for a few more minutes, and then announced that they had to work on a report on a topic together with a partner.
