Tinted Glass

Walking home from school one day
I found a shard of tinted glass
I looked around, and saw noone
So I picked it from the golden grass

Excited with my treasure strange
I tried it soon as I got home
I looked at it, bright and yellow
Everything through, a shade of chrome

The world I saw through my new find
All day long until the night
Dogs, cats, cars and busses
Nothing escaped my tinted sight

Watched so much through painted lens
Soon I lost my unbiased eye
The world seemed a colourful mess
I couldn't discern the truth from lie

Walking back from school again
I threw it back from whence I'd found
This piece of shard outside of school
Taught a lesson in life profound!
