Chapter 13- Happily Ever After

"Y/N! Y/N, please!"
I heard Varian crying.
I still couldn't open my eyes...

"Son... I'm afraid that Y/N is..."
Quirin said.

"NO! NONONO! I REFUSE!
I'm not losing her. NOT AGAIN!"

I finally get enough power to wake up. I set up with a loud gasp, scaring the hell out of everyone accidentally.

"Y/N! YOU ARE ALRIGHT!"
Varian hugged me.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again..."
He wiped a few tears off his face.

"Silly V'... you thought I'll ever leave my Varian? Not ever. I swear."

"I love you SO MUCH."
Varian leaned into a kiss, and I melted into it.

"I-I'll just go check that the others are good-"
Quirin awkwardly started to stand up.

"Oh no you don't!"
I dragged him into a group hug.

After a few moments, we stood up and joined the rest of the kingdom's citizens, looking at Rapunzel, Eugene and Cassandra, back together.

Finally, after what feels like ages of being out, Quirin Varian and I returned to our house in old Corona and had a simple dinner.

"What could be more perfect with a dinner with my father and my girlfriend."
Varian layed back on his chair.

"Yea, good thing I haven't adopted
Y/N, or else it would have been a bit strange, don't you think?"
Quirin laughed.

I almost choked on my food.

"Dad!"
Varian crossed his hands.

"You know I have a point, son.
By the way, when am I getting grandkids?"

I completely choked on my food, almost falling to the floor.

"D-DAD!"
Varian shouted as Quietly bursted out in laughter.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. We all calm down.

"I'll go open it."
Varian said.

"O-Oh! Hello there, your highness."
Varian said and backed away from the door, letting our guests in.

"Varian, you already know that it's 'Rapunzel'!"
Rapunzel said, raising her brow.

"Yea, but you told us when you were a princess. Now that you are the queen, it's a different deal."
I noted.

Rapunzel just laughed.
"So I command you to call me 'Rapunzel' at all times."

"Eugene, our friend! How's with the royal guard?"
Quirin shaked his hand.

"Everything's better then ever.
But, this is not why Rapunzel and I are here."
Eugene said with a smile.

"Varian, Y/N, you are our most trusted scientists and engineers.
I've come here to ask you to work in the castle."
Rapunzel said with a bright smile.

"H-Huh...?"
Varian whispered, amazed.

"Isn't it perfect, kids? 'Y/N and Varian, the royal scientists and engineers'."
Quirin put his hands on our shoulders.

"You can add 'Quirin' to the equation if you want to put an eye on them."
Eugene added.

I squeaked in excitement.

"Will you come with us, dad?"
Varian asked.

"Sure! I'll try."
Quirin nodded.

"THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFEEEEEE!!!"
Varian exclaimed as we all laughed.

"So it's official! I'll prepare a room in the castle for you."
Rapunzel said.

"I'll still live here. I also want to keep caring for old Corona."
Quirin said.

"Do you have an idea for you first project?"
Eugene asked.

"I have!"
I exclaimed.

"Yap. Hot running water is completely worth the occasional explosions."
Eugene laughed as he and Rapunzel went to check on us.

"I'm sure we'll solve it, kids. But it's time for me to go check on old Corona."
Quirin said.

"Alright, bye dad!"
Varian said.
"Bye Quirin!"
I exclaimed.

"Why not Father in law?"
Rapunzel asked with a smile.
Quirin stopped in place as he knew what's going to happen.

"Uh, no, why?
Varian and I just turned 18 a week ago. Anyways, we still didn't propose to each other so-"

Varian suddenly took my hands and went down on his knees.

"NOOO THIS IS NOT REAL"
I say in confusion.

"This is as true as our love."
Varian winked.

"Wait, I'm too busy being surprised than to respond to your cheesyness.

You all knew this is going to happen??"
Rapunzel, Eugene and Quirin nodded.
My jaw opened widely in surprise, but then I closed it and looked at Varian.

"Y/N... how will I start...
You are the most extraordinary person I've ever met.
You kept up with me and gave me hope even in the darkest of times.
You are a person I can trust, and you never fail to help me or cheer me up.
I want you to be mine, and that we'll spend the rest of our lives together.
I love you Y/N, and I don't want to be with anyone else other than you.
...what do you say...?
Will you marry me, Y/N?"
Varian showed me a beautiful handmade ring.

"I-I..."
I was so surprised and happy, I didn't know what to say.

"Uh, or... uh, you need more time to think and all..."
Varian sighed as I took too long to respond.

I quickly hugged Varian.
"Yes, yes I will! I love you Varian!"
I exclaimed and we kissed as everyone cheered.
Varian put the ring on my finger.

"Welp, now I need to go."
Quirin hurried.

"Bye again, dad!"
"Bye father in law!"

"Ah, as it should've been said."
Rapunzel giggled.

"Let's go, sunshine."
Eugene said.
"Congratulations!"

"Thanks!"
Varian and I exclaimed, still in each other's arms.

"Huh, never thought I'd end up proposing in the castle's basement."
Varian laughed.

"I've never thought that I'll meet the only man who can make me happy."
I whispered and we kissed again.

Finally, I found MY happily ever after. And I think Varian feels that, too.
