Envy's POV:

Life is great... There's not much else to say. I'm in a relationship which, by the way, I never thought I'd have. It's crazy to think how far I've grown as a person over a short period of time.
Even Ed. He's grown just as much as I have.

I will say, I'm happy.
Up until this point in my life, I haven't quite felt true happiness. To definition, at least.

Honestly though, I'm not really one to express my feelings and all that. In the past time I've spent with Ed, I can feel a change.
In fact, we just rented a new apartment, specifically for new beginnings.

-

"Ready to go?" Ed asks me before leaving for work. I've been walking to work with him recently, as well.

"Yeah, just a second." I reply.

I rush into our bedroom, and grab a sweater.
Right as I leave, I notice his jacket on the dresser. I bring it to him, of course.

"Come on, it's not that cold." He says, looking down at his jacket in my arms.

"Don't be an asshole, it's windy you know." I respond.
I swear to god he's full of bullshit.

After a bit of arguing, we leave. He shifts uncomfortably in his jacket as to make a statement.

"You're a dick." I hear him mumble.

"Yeah and you're short." I retort.
It was admittedly a terrible comeback, but I had to say something.

As we walk, we simply talk.
Mostly reminiscing.

"Remember when we first met, man?" I ask.

"You called me a goddamn pipsqueak." He laughs, light heartedly.

"And when we first fought..."
I take a moment to find joy in these memories I'll never relive again.
That's when we take a detour to our shop across the park.
After moments, we raise our glasses to new memories.

"This hurts you, doesn't it?" I ask Ed, notioning toward our past.

"Fuck, you think it hurts me? Look at yourself, a being who has lived hundreds of years. I bet you've seen your fair share of memories leave."

"Yeah... but nobody I've met is quite like you" I respond.
What else do I say? It's true.

He looks almost amazed. He has this look on his face that says "Really?" although he knows the answer already.

I look at him, and mouth the words "it's true".

He immediately begins smiling, which leads me to, too.
Who knew our walk could become... Wholesome?

The moment is immediately shattered with laughter. As per usual.

It takes this long for us to reach the East Station, and we're greeted by Al and Mei.

"Hi, guys!" Al says to us.

"Hi!" We yell to him from across the street.

We immediately grab our bearings and chat quickly.
After a few minutes, Ed pipes up.

"It's probably about time we get going." Ed looks to Al.

"Right, Brother. Mei, Envy, see you guys later!"

I look to Ed once we're alone, and give him a small peck.
He looks down to my hair as I stand, confused.

"What are y-"

"Look." He explains. "The hair I cut at the beginning of our meeting."

I'm still confused.

"What the fu-"

"The chunk of hair I sliced during that big fight, where you- well..."
"...Spared my life?" I finish.

"Well, yeah." He shuffles.

"Imagine if I hadn't have, y'know, had mercy?" I ponder.

"I'd be six feet under." He laughs.

I'll be honest, although I wouldn't be happy right now without him, that was funny.

"I do remember that, though. Th- the hair, that is." I say.

"Right? like why didn't it grow back?" We laughed.

This is the type of moment I love. Just us, laughing.

"Well, Envy. I'll see you later." He says, giving me one last hug.

"Until tonight." I reply.

"I love you."

-

Life isn't perfect, obviously. But I would like to believe I've found the closest thing to it.
