They smashed the windows and climbed through, there was a swarm of beasts of all different colors, shapes and sizes. Some of them weren't recognizable, but there were trolls...that I was sure of.

They had swoons: swords, bows, knives and a few odd looking weapons covered in nasty looking spikes. Flynn grabbed my hand and tried to drag me to the exit.

"No, I can fight!" I screamed as he continued dragging me towards the door.

"Not on my watch, now come on!" He was right; I didn't know how to fight, though I really wanted to. We went to a guest room and he hid me in an alcove "Stay here until I come and get you okay? Don't move a muscle. Here, take this." He handed me a silver bow and some matching arrows. "Less chance of you hacking your arm off and, you said you had used one before in archery class." He ran off drawing his golden sword (which I later found out was celestial bronze).

I sat in silence listening to the faint heart wrenching screams of the people in the ballroom. I was not going to just sit here and pretend like this was all a pretty picture. Flynn was right; he gave me a bow because he knew I could use one. And that's exactly what I was going to do. I got up from the alcove and ran towards the door. I pulled the handle, but it was locked. Flynn must have known that I would try to fight.

"FLYNN!!!" I screamed. "LET ME OUT!!" I grabbed a handle holder and smashed it against the door. I was in luck; the holder split in half, pulled a hair pin out of my hair to pick the lock. The click of the lock unleashing was like a sound sent from heaven.

"Yes" I murmured; sweet success. I ran down the hall and towards the ballroom. I kept tripping over the skirts and the heels I had on didn't help to much with that problem. "Where were my converse and shorts when I needed them?" I groaned internally.

I tore off my shoes, (a move I would surly regret in a little while) and loaded my bow. Creeping around the corners following the war cries, being careful not to get spotted I turned the last corner and was faced by a hideous creature.

It had blue scaled skin, some of which was poking outwards. It had 3 eyes which all blinked in unison, along it's back there were deadly looking spikes that looked like they could do some serious damage if you got hit with them, the tips were all a deep orange; most likely filled with poison. It opened its mouth and flames erupted from it. I tried to back away, but it saw me.

It growled showing rows of sharp ugly shark like teeth and ran towards me. It was bloody fast. I shot an arrow at it and got it next to where I would assume its heart was, if it even had a heart.

"Leave me alone!" I cried out loading shooting another arrow; this time it flew straight through its second eye. It cried out in pain breathing fire in my general direction. It ran up and pushed me against the hard marbled walls. It advanced toward me again this time violently swinging its tail. It hit me in the stomach; hard. I slid across the ground leaving a trail of blood behind me, trying my hardest to get away.

I felt a hard pain erupt inside of me, I realized that I'd been hit... the green on the spikes was definitely poison, and one it was now coursing through my system. I took a deep breath, pulled the spike out and winced at the increase of pain.

"I thought I told you to leave. Me. Alone." I said through clenched teeth. There was a glow of purple light coming from my wrist and that was the last thing the creature ever saw. It lay on the grown ripped to shreds with blood and gore splattered all over the ground and ceiling. I stood up slowly and realized the pain was everywhere, burning, stinging, and spreading. I took two steps before I collapsed where I stood.

I was told that I was unconscious for 3 days; coughing up blood and screaming- the effects of the poison. Apparently I had made a pretty ugly mess with the demon- worse than I had thought. It wasn't just on the roof, walls and ground, it was all over me as well. They were still cleaning it out today.

When I was discharged from the infirmary, I vowed never ever EVER to wear a gown again- unless it was an extremely important occasion. And high heels? I was pretty sure a gown could cover my converse or combat boots.

I wore legging type pants and a simple 3 quarter sleeved tee that looked like it was made from leaves. I put on some comfortable leather boots and tossed my hair up into a messy pony tail. I looked at the bruise under my eye, and the cut on my lip. *Sigh. I could use some make up right about now, but a natural me would have to do for now. I asked some servants where I could find my father, they said he was off on business, so Flynn was the next best thing. I walked in the general direction that the maids pointed to, lost in the labyrinth of corridors, I continued deeper into the building.

Instead of finding Flynn I found Lady Elizabeth, sitting with some elementary kids telling them a story. I backed away before I could be roped into telling one too. I turned and Flynn was standing right behind me.

"You startled me." I gasped out, uncomfortable with the amount of space between us, which was practically none.

"Follow me." He said. He led me into the music room where he made himself comfortable in front of the piano. I stood in front of him wondering what he wanted.

"You disobeyed me. I asked you to stay in the alcove and you didn't, it is my job to keep you safe and you directly DISOBEYED ME!" His voice rose to a shout. I hadn't ever seen him this angry.

"I'm s-sorry..." I whimpered.

"You realize you could have died, or did that never cross into your mind?" His voice was scary calm as he stood up, I took a cautionary step backwards, in the back of my mind, I was upset at being treated like a child.

"But I wasn't!!" I screamed at him about to turn away, but he grabbed my wrist looking furious and exhausted as if he hadn't slept at all since the battle, he had grown a slight beard so he obviously hadn't shaved yet either.

"Let go of me" I said, "You're hurting me." He let go and looked sad.

"Please just go."

So I left.

Weeks passed, I didn't see Flynn or Lady Elizabeth at all, for the subjects they usually taught me, I had different teachers, I tried not to worry about them, but so far, they were the nicest people I had met during my time here.

Each day was the same. I woke up, had breakfast with my dad (who turned out to be great- turns out he still loved human music so he ordered people to get all of my band shirts, shorts and shoes from mum's house) I would then go to whichever of the 3 classes I had before lunch, then I ate lunch, went to my last 3 classes before I had free time until tea. I asked about Flynn and Elizabeth but they were away temporarily and would be back soon is all I was ever told.

I was in my favorite class when they came back, learning how to use my magic to create illusions. I had pretty much mastered everything for my level and had almost figured out how to switch between my two elements, Water and Spirit.

I was outside with my teacher Levon, on the lawn practicing how to make people see different things, and how to mask myself with illusions (or glamour's as they were most often called). When they walked through the gates, Elizabeth half holding, half dragging Flynn, she screamed.

"Help!" She screamed again. I got over the initial shock, and ran over to them with Levon right at my heels. Elizabeth collapsed from exhaustion. I tried to catch her but was to slow, she hit the ground. Levon tended to the wounds he could see, and I was ordered to do the same with Flynn.

"Flynn?" I whispered, hoping he could hear me. I used my water power to clean away the blood, then spirit to stop the bleeding. He opened his eyes and whispered my name like it was a prayer.
