"Her speech is getting slurred" the nurse told them

"Meredith, can you tell me your age??" Nelson asked

"I- I'm six" She whispered. She looked scared as she had no idea what was happening

"Who's this?" Nelson pointed at Arizona

"A- Awr.. -Zona" Meredith whimpered "A-wr-izona" She corrected herself

"It's okay" Arizona brushed her fingers through Meredith's hair "You did great"

Meredith nodded and let tears ran down her cheeks

"It's okay, it's okay" Arizona climbed into the bed and held the girl in her arms

The two of them stayed like that until Meredith calmed down again

"Az- Azon-" Meredith started and frowned as her slurred speech

"Try again, calm and easy" Arizona whispered

"Az- A-rr-izona" Meredith said as she panicked

"That's right, you said it" Arizona rubbed the girl's cheeks "You're exhausted, you should try and get some more sleep"

"Kay" Meredith whispered and laid on her side

"Goodnight, Meredith" Arizona smiled

"Night" Meredith whispered as her eyes shut down

A few hours later, Meredith was awake again. The pain in her body wouldn't let her sleep even if she was exhausted. She was hoping her mom would come and visit her

Once she heard a knock on the door, she quickly craned her neck only to feel sick from the sudden movement as she started gagging.

"Oh, dear" Carolyn gasped and quickly ran over, holding the bucket in front of Meredith "I got you" Carolyn gently rubbed Meredith's back

"It huwts" Meredith whimpered. Carolyn looked at the little girl, immediately noticing her slurred speech even if she was warned by her chart, this hurts her deep

"I'm gonna page Dr Shepherd for some more painkillers.'' Carolyn said before leaving the room and returning quickly after. She took a seat on the bed and cuddled Meredith in her arms

"Hi, Meredith" He smiled as he entered the room

"Hi" She quietly whispered back

"Can she have more pain meds? I found her crying in pain" Carolyn frowned at her husband

"I'll grab something stronger" Christopher smiled

...

"Meredith, wake up" Ellis shook the little girl awake

"M- Mommy?" She asked as she was rubbing the sleep out of her eyes

"I guess I wanted to check on you before going home" Ellis told her daughter

"I wanna g-go home t-oo" Meredith whispered

"Meredith, think for a minute. Of course you can't come home, besides I wouldn't have time to clean you up and stuff. These nurses can do a better job"

Meredith nodded in response

"I guess I should go now" Ellis said as she looked around the room

"Mommy, no" Meredith cried out but Ellis just left. Meredith slowly climbed out of the bed as she felt dizzy. She braced herself against the wall and sneaked outside but couldn't see Ellis. She then decided to go to the basement where she always played when her mom was working

Meredith was overwhelmed with a feeling of dizziness before her legs gave out and she fell on the cold floor

Meredith started sobbing but there was no one around who could help so she crawled into a fetal position and decided to just wait. When she calmed down, she tried to get up again but felt very unstable as she couldn't find her balance even with holding onto the wall

What she didn't know was that the whole hospital was now looking for her as Richard entered her room and couldn't find her so he called the missing patient code

Meredith was sobbing with her back against the wall when Arizona came running towards her "Meredith?"

The little girl just kept sobbing as Arizona threw her arms around her

"Oh, sweetie. You're so cold" Arizona frowned

"I wan-ed I- I wan-t-ed mommy"

"Let's get back to your room, okay?" Arizona asked before she stood up

"Can no" Meredith whispered

"Why can't you come with me?" Arizona asked

"I can no-wt" Meredith repeated

Arizona decided to scoop up Meredith and carry her back to her room. Even if Meredith was 6 years old, she looked very small and petite. Arizona was worried about that further in the treatment

She helped the little girl back into the bed and tucked her in

"Meredith, can you tell me why you said you couldn't walk back to your room?" Arizona asked concerned

"Dizzy and my legs we- we-wrend doing what I wan-ed" Meredith frowned

"Meredith, I have a quick test for you" Arizona frowned too and set Meredith back on the ground before walking back a couple of meters "Can you walk towards me?"

"Kay" Meredith said and started biting her lip as concentration overtook her. She swung from the left to the right as she carefully took a few steps towards Arizona. Once she reached the blonde doctor, she grabbed onto her for dear life, scared to let go

"Okay, you did great! You're such a brave girl. How do you feel now?"

"My belly huwts" Meredith whispered

"Let's get you something to eat, it will help with the nausea

"Nooo" Meredith quietly stated

"Meredith, you'll have to"

"No!" She cried out "No!"
