"Yue, your hair is messed up."

"Cause you put the buns too high!"

Y/n reached to fix the raven locks which belonged to the little girl who sat next to her on the wooden swing outside of the cottage.

She took out the hairpins and ornaments to recreate the two buns on her head yet again.

Y/n found it funny how her fluffy ears twitched each time she accidentally pulled a strand a little too hard.

Yue hummed, letting her dark blue eyes wander around the village as she swung her legs back and forth.

Just when y/n finished fixing her hair, Yue sat upright immediately with a gasp. "Mama!" She cheered at the sight of her mother, jumping off the swing and stumbling forward a little.

Luckily, she was able to hold onto Yanli and catch herself as she was now right in front of her, laughing softly. "Now now, I only left for a moment, you know."

"It felt like forever!" Her daughter shook her head.

Y/n couldn't help but smile softly at the two. "How did it go?" She finally asked as she stared at Yanli.

Yanli looked back at her. "I managed to get the glaze lilly seeds." She answered, "But there's something I wanted to ask of you.."

"Ask of me?"

"Say, y/n, how does an adventure sound to you?" Yanli questioned.

Silence filled the air.

Y/n didn't understand what she was trying to imply.

Yanli pet Yue's hair before sending her off and allowing her to go and play with some birds elsewhere.

"Travelling, y/n. What does that sound like to you?"

"..Are you trying to get rid of me?" The vessel couldn't help but ask, albeit reluctantly.

"Oh you silly child, of course not." Yanli shook her head, "What I'm trying to say is that I've come to realize that although there are plenty of beautiful flowers in Liyue, other nations have gorgeous flowers as well. And as much as I'd like to go and collect their seeds, you know I'm unable to bring myself to leave the grounds of this land." She explained, sending the puppet a little smile, "My question is, would you like to travel around those nations and collect those seeds for me?"

Ah,

There was something else lingering behind the fox deity's words, and y/n noticed it.

"Do you really have to leave?"

"It's my own choice, Yue."

Y/n took ahold of the purple ends of her hair and threw the strands over her shoulder so she could zip up her bag properly without her hair getting in her face, standing up from the floor and turning to look at Yue, who was frowning as she watched her.

"But jiejie, I'm really gonna miss you."

Y/n smiled fondly. "It's not like I'm leaving forever, I'll be back." She assured, moving her hand to gently pet the girl's head when she stepped closer and wrapped her arms around the puppet, hiding her face.

Yanli hummed softly as she watched the two, stepping closer to them while her long white hair swayed behind herself, the red ends of her hair tied loosely into a ponytail.

"Yue, don't guilt trip her into staying."

"Wha- I'm not! I'm really gonna miss jiejie!" Yue quickly turned her head to look at her mother, not hugging y/n anymore but still clutching onto one of her sleeves.

Y/n's hanfu was a purple colour starting at the top, switching to white in the middle and fading back into purple at the end of the dress. Her sleeves were also white, draped over her shoulders elegantly whereas there was also a dark purple ribbon tied around her waist with her vision attached to it, dangling near her right hip.

It was a hanfu that Yanli lent to her, and one that she grew very attached to. Now, you may be wondering how anyone could possibly fend off enemies in such a dress, no?

Well, you'd be surprised.

"Before you leave, let me put up your hair for you." Yanli held her hand out to y/n, which she accepted.

"Take it."

"A-Are you sure?"

Y/n hesitated as she stared down at the purple and gold fan that the nine-tailed fox held out to her, fiddling with the butterfly ornaments on the sides of her hair nervously.

The fan had ancient text written on the top of each fold, patterned with white flowers in the middle of the left side.

It was a weapon. A catalyst, to be exact.

"Of course I'm sure." Yanli nodded, taking ahold of one of y/n's hands and placing the fan into her hold.

"You remember all our training, no? We shouldn't let that go to waste. You need to defend yourself, after all."

Y/n stared at Yanli before lifting her head to look further behind her, staring at the pretty cottage that they stood outside of.

She was gonna leave.

After staying here ever since she gained her own consciousness and woke up, she was going to head out and see what the rest of Teyvat was like too.

She really didn't think she'd be able to build up the courage to do this at first, yet here she was now.

All thanks to the deity that took her in.

"Jiejie! Come back soon, okay!?"

"Have a safe trip!"

Y/n smiled to herself as she glanced back at Yue and Yanli, who were calling out their goodbyes to her whilst she walked further and further away from their sight.

She waved back at the two before turning forward again.

The flower seeds weren't the point here.

Yanli suggesting her to go out and collect those seeds for her was just an excuse to get her to go out and explore the world she was so unfamiliar with.

It was a way to push her forward.

And knowing y/n, she couldn't bring herself to refuse a request given by the one that took her in.

The puppet lowered her gaze to look down at the fan floating above her hands before allowing it to dissipate, only to be summoned back for battle.

It was time for her to try something new.

'Mondstadt, here I come.'
