How to Bury an Angel

In seven days, my youth will perish.
Though I buried it long ago
The purity I was so eager to shed
Will no longer bleed below my feet
Staining the Earth with its tears.
So devoted I was to my own downfall
Back when I was young
That when I met that man and the angels cried
I heard nothing at all.
Now their descendants sing within the trees
And I know to look before I leap
Remembering the dress that fell to my knees
And how it couldn't save me from him.
The first time I prayed was at my own grave
Hoping that God would care
Father, I beg you, don't send me to Hell
Because I know that my killer is there.
Have mercy, Father
Please, tell me you can
I would dance around fire
But I won't stand next to a man
So in seven days
When my youth is dead
Don't send me to Heaven
Don't send me to Hell
Bury the angel
Where she fell.
