A year has passed since you've perished
Most of all, I miss your name
The one that I gave you
And how my heart melted
Within my chest
Each time I heard the sound
One of the thousand secrets we shared
Now ash beneath my tongue
Never again to be spoken
Never again to be heard.
I used to say your name
Like it was a prayer
But now I can no longer bear
The silence that follows after.
"Tell me, God, is he there with you?"
"Do you know that name?"
Silence.
The one question the Lord can't answer
Is the one that pains me the most.
So, I'll bury your name beneath my tongue
Because each time I say it
And you don't answer
I'm reminded of this painful truth
I don't know where you are.
