the united world federation is the new world government of earth, the world vanguard navy is the military force of the UWF, it encompasses all military forces army, navy, air-force, everything, the reason they are simply just the navy is do to the airships (which are also spaceships) within the navy, with the bloated population that happened do to three worlds mashing together, the human race has branched out and has colonized the moon, mars, and also use several space colonies created by the navy, the united world federation is led by an elected official known as the governor

first minister (supreme commander of the navy, this rank is held by shinji ikari)

minister (there are only six ministers they are the chief advisors of the first minister, the ministers can only ascend to their position by being granted their rank by the first minister himself)

viceroy (there are twelve viceroys per minister, and nine viceroys for the first minister, the first ministers viceroys are known as the imperial guard, the viceroys command the fleets in the navy, under the command of the ministers of course)

general (the highest ranking officer one can get promoted to, the viceroys are hand picked by the ministers)
