Shinji had eventually caved at the persistent badgering of goh, anna, and mira and had agreed to join vanguard academy, albeit rather reluctantly

The school itself would normally require one of two things, if you were bonded already, or were a pandora or dragoon, you gained automatic entrance, all pandoras and dragoons have to do after all is listen to their riders orders, bonded riders get in without problem because they need to learn what being a rider means and how to be a good one, because bad ones can exist especially with certain individuals abusing the guild system by forming quote unquote 'pirate guilds'

They abuse their power to gang up and attack other guilds, in hopes of weakening them or even taking them out before the trials

Anyway if you were previously apart of the fallen vanguard navy, you also gained automatic admittance, though most veterans of the vanguard took the test anyway, as the test was a way to get their names out there in hopes that dragoons and pandoras would notice them

Otherwise you had to take the admittance tests which was a paper test, with a number of questions that basically told the entire academy everything about the test taker, because the results were public knowledge, shinji took the admittance test and put only one thing on it his name, the point of the test was to inform the academy, that you were here, and who you were, everyone under the sun knew who shinji was so there was utterly no point

Misato who was on an instructor for the academy which had no headmaster, since the post was unneeded the school was controlled by the chief magistrate, one kozo fuyutsuki, shinji had insisted he tale the role which he did eventually and has been overseeing the seraphim trials and the vanguard academy since

Misato however was jumping for jot as she wrote out shinji's schedule with glee, shinji had alot of free time since most of his courses were unneeded, he was already well versed in combat tactics and strategy, as well as fighting as whole, having led the fallen vanguard himself after all, there was no point to waist shinji's time, so the only class that mattered was rider training

after setting his singular class up, she prepared shinji's new ship, which misato had been preparing for him in secret NSS-01: LONGINUS the vessel was a jupiter-class battlecarrier that had been slightly overhauled so it could carry more guns and act as, misato had a fleet buried in the wings, having taken over the drydocks shinji had acquired from his service and had been preparing for him, she seriously worried that shinji didn't want to fight anymore, tsukihime cleared that right up, but tsukihime, was really only for when shinji got mad, since she could temporarily call upon the full power of EVA unit-01 for shinji to use, which is a whole new definition of overkill, so everyone knew that would only be used likely against pirates who decided to be idiots

after preparing the longinus, which act as NERVs mobile base, she called the girls who quickly all signed up for the academy as well, misato of course made sure shinji would run into them at differing intervals, to make sure shinji didn't start having second thoughts, they didn't want to overwhelm him after all, shinji would lash out if that happened, and he may talk down about his mystic art but if no one knows it's coming and it catch off guard the consequences wouldn't end well

shinji himself had been given the standard quarters for important students within the academy, these were built for either former high-ranking officers of the fallen vanguard, or current high-ranking officials within the nation as a whole, or the guilds, she noted that shinji had already gone through the trouble of forming a guild and to no one's surprise, the guild was simply called NERV, forming a guild could be done at any point, so long as you could prove you could do it, you had a vector and/or a starship, or had sufficient funds to purchase such, shinji simply had to say his name and his guild was accepted, since everyone knows the name of the legendary man, though shinji thinks people worship him too much he was just a guy doing his job (no matter how important that job may be)

"class as many know this year, the guilds have gone through the first major overhaul yet, as they are coming together forming cabals, led by the most important of factions, what makes matters even more interesting is that the legendary first minister himself has decided to throw his hat into the ring, in fact as many of you have noticed he is in this class right now" the instructor, which ironically was one kiriko aoi, who had gotten with the program, especially with her own husband tatsuya being a dragon, she became his rider

"of course, the former first minister is still a high-respected individual within our society, and i doubt has lost much of his power, in the physical sense either so challenge him at your own risk, that being said, despite the mans infamy, he has no experience at all, in actually riding dragon back, and very little experience handling a pandora, in battle, first minister would you like to explain this" she asked

"I note how you noted i am the former first minister, yet you call me by that title" i spoke out, she gave a small bow

"i did it on purpose, despite you instigating the disbanding of the fallen vanguard, most still see  and refer to you as the legendary first minister, i am sure that even if the vanguard is reformed that position will only be fillable by you are, so as a form of respect, i do not know if you know this, but your official rank. has also become your title, so even if the position does not exist, you still keep the title, similar in nature to the title sir or lord, it may mean nothing physically or politically but it is a sign of respect, one you have earned" Dr. aoi said

"very well, as to your previous question, name any dragon ever that can compare to an EVA, i'll wait" i said

"so you prefer your EVA to a living breathing person" Dr. aoi asked

"no, i didn't say that, however if i lost my EVA oh well, i got another one, and can build a third if necessary, if i had a dragon and that individual died, i would never find someone like him or her, again, an EVA is replaceable a person not so much, i would also have a more guilt free conscious controlling an EVA into a combat scenario, then a person, i had enough of that from giving orders that led men to their deaths" i said

"fair enough, that makes a lot of sense, and this is different" she asked, i nodded, well aware of that fact

"are we at war, with an enemy that could wipe out the entire human race" i asked, she had no response to that question

"yes this is different, because this isn't necessary, everyone is here because they want to feel that rush, and not because if they don't fight someone else will have to fight in their place" i said
