Wow. I genuinely never thought I would complete such an immense goal as writing an entire story from start to finish. I'm humbled by how difficult it was, but also shocked at how hard I pushed to keep going.

I began writing the first chapter in late April of last year. I find it incredible that this thing can exist, a visible fruit of my creativity.

In a sense, In The Spotlight is a time capsule. If you look closely, you can see the highs of the honeymoon phase of my relationship, the uncertainty that I felt many times in fall, the anxiety and depression I fell into a few months back, and now, as the characters did, the joy of breaking through the surface and coming back into myself and the good parts of being alive. I really see myself in this book, see how I've grown as an author and a person.

I'm so intensely amazed by how much this book has achieved, and mostly, how many people have come across it, and stayed long enough to leave a comment or vote on the chapter.

I'd like to clarify that I'm not leaving Wattpad. Far from it! I have lots of ideas in the works, one that I'm particularly excited about. I'll probably even still write one shots in the extras book!

But before I start working on something new, I need to look back, and thank some people, online and off, for contributing to this book and its existence.

Firstly, I need to give thanks to my mother, who is the only reason I am here at all, of course, but also the sole reason I write. She told me when I was little that I was a good writer, so I kept doing it to make her proud, and developed a love in the process.

I'd like to thank Leafcake, who is genuinely my greatest cheerleader, and my biggest inspiration. Dude, your comments and messages always cheer me up so much, and I love reading your work. You always give the most detailed comments that just really make me feel like I am worthy of being here.

I am grateful toward the author Alice Oseman, who I unfortunately do not personally know, but has greatly contributed to my writing style. Heartstopper and Nick and Charlie were all inspirations, but the two books that I found the most impactful to me were definitely Solitaire and I Was Born For This. Give them a read.

Lastly, any single person who is here reading this, thank you. Thank you for commenting, thank you for voting, thank you for reading, and thank you for sticking around.

For now, though, have a good day, drink your water, and I'll see you in the next one.

Ella out.
