“I can’t do this.”

“Yes, you can!”

“No, I can’t!”

“Savannah!”

“What?”

“You’re not backing out of this!”

“Yes, I am! I’m turning around!”

“Oh, no you’re not! As long as I am here; you’re going!”

“Feel free to leave anytime.”

“Savannah! If you really want to get Joe, you’re going to have to go now; otherwise your relationship is going nowhere!”

Larissa and I are standing on my front porch. Our position right now would look really weird to any onlooker, but they’re going to have to deal with it because there is no way that I am going over to Joe’s. No way. Larissa has one hand resting on my back, pushing me forwards, while her other hand is guarding the side of my torso just in case I try to turn back around, which I tried once but she caught me and turned me back around.

After her little pep talk in my room, I marched down the stairs and out the front door with so much determination, but then I realised what I was about to do, so I backed out but Larissa caught me and now she’s holding me hostage, which leads to now.

I sigh about her earlier comment. She’s right, if I keep chickening out nothing is going to happen between Joe and I. I mean, I would prefer if he asked me out. I already know he likes me – hell he loves me – but yet, I am still a nervous wreck. What would happen if he changed his mind? He probably thinks I’m weird running out of the house. But nonetheless, I’m still going over there; I’m going to make something happen.

“Okay fine,” I yell, pulling out of her grasp. “I’m going.”

“Finally,” she groans. “My arms were getting tired.”

I laugh, walking down the front steps, feeling butterflies in the pit of my stomach. I grab the door handle of my car, pulling it open. Larissa walks to the passenger seat, getting inside. I hop in afterwards, raising my eyebrows at her.

“Is there a reason you’re coming with me?” I ask.

“Don’t worry,” she dismisses with a wave of her hand. “I’m not coming in. I’ll just stay in the car. I’m only coming with you, just in case you decide not to go over there.”

“What? Don’t you trust me?” I tease, pulling out of the driveway.

“Oh, I do,” she assures me. “Just not when it comes to this.”

I laugh, putting the car into drive. I dive down the street, turning right, then left. Soon enough I pull into the front of Joe’s house. Like I said before, Joe’s house isn’t that far of a drive.

I turn off the car, taking deep breaths. I peer out at the house, before looking at Larissa who is giving me a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry,” she says. “It’ll all be fine.”

I nod at her words, getting out of my car. I slam the door shut behind me, not bothering to look back. If I do, I’d probably end up running back into my car and driving home. Which wouldn’t accomplish anything.

I knock on his front door, bouncing on the balls of my feet, something I do when I’m waiting or nervous. The door swings open, revealing Chris.

“Hey, Chris,” I greet, giving him a small smile.
