Do not show up unwanted to an occasion. Alot of events and occasions are strictly by invitation. And when invited, don't show up late. Kill the 'African time ' syndrome.

Dress up properly according to the event you're attending. Avoid revealing clothes.

If you're in a situation where you're the only one who knows the other parties, take the time to introduce them to one another. In a very formal situation,(British society) you don't 'introduce' you 'present' them. For instance, you say, Mr John may I present Mr Jones?. When it comes to gender; a gentleman is presented to a lady. For instance, Ms Sheila may I present Mr Jones?. Hierarchy is also involved in presentation. The younger, lower in status, less accomplished person is always presented to the older, higher in status, more accomplished person.

When you're with a friend or anyone, don't focus all your attention on your phone, chatting away and surfing the internet. This will create an awkward silence and will leave that person feeling bad and ignored.
